Extermination.

Please Accept My Humble Obeisances. All Glories to Srila Prabhupada, Guru & Gauranga.Hare Krishna Prabhuji's and Mataji's.Extermination is done in many peoples homes. I know that even the ants have souls, so should all the rest of living entities (including "pests").HOWEVER, I understand that a place that is roach/pest infested, it must be cleaned.I don't know how to properly approach this subject.Killing is a sin, but when is it necessicary? Please forgive me if I have committed offenses in asking this question. Its always been a bewildering topic to me.Hari BolYour most low servant,Bhakta David

Once a devotee asked Srila Prabhupada if he can kill the rats in the kitchen in the temple. SP replied that we have to kill you for maintaining the kitchen unclean and inviting the rats in there.

A true vishnava is 'Suhrudam sarva bhoothanaam' - loves and respects all the living entities equally. Once we asked the same question to our siksha guru and he said that if we sit at home saying that i will respect all the living entities, then soon we will be out of house and all other living entities will be inside. The best solution is to avoid them to come home in the first place. and if they do come, use some repellents that drive them away rather than kill them. For instance, most of the mosquito repellents drive the mosquitoes away rather than killing. And as Marl mataji suggested the chalk (called as Lakshman rekha... dont know if Ravana took birth as a roach or what!!!!) can be used.

One thing is for sure, if you see bugs or insects we can understand we have not kept the place clean.

    hari bol!!!

Hare Krishna Bhakta David Prabhu, please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

for example, in growing some plants farmers have to use drugs which kill dangerous insects in order to prevent the harvest.

in Sri Sri Radha Gopinath Temple Maharaja ordered all Devotees to sleep using nets to protect themselves from mosquitoes.

In the Temple kitchen i saw that Devotees use anti  cockroach chalks because they started to walk on plates and make them unclean.

for ants we can use anti ant chalks which scares them they won't die well they will die if they eat that but by smelling they will run away.

from flies i think we have to cover sweet things and so on.

some violence will be there but we have to choose the less.

    Your servant,
