On the day of ekadashi we do not eat grains and keep fast. Many of us give rice and other things to birds . Should on the day of ekadasi should we not offer grains to birds. As they only eat grains. Same question is with animals.

Hare Krishna dear Devotees, my humble obeisances! All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
On Ekadashi days even in our Govinda's restaurants Devotees cook grains and karmis come and eat.
So we cannot control them. If they do not eat Prasadam at Govinda's anyways they will eat grains but outside.
So better they eat Prasadam.
What to speak of animals and birds!

Ekadasi is a fast for human beings. I never heard of birds or animals fasting! By all means, please continue to give grains or rice to the birds and animals like other days. In fact, even to God, we can offer grains and all kinds of acceptable fruits on ekadasi. It is our fast, not the lord's. He can eat anything, we have restrictions that day. We can offer grains and give to others who are not fasting or keep for ourselves the next day if everyone is fasting at home.
