Hare Krishna!

Though we all follow Ekadashi vratas by not eating grains, but I've noticed that grain prasadam is offered for consumption on Ekadashi days at Iskcon restaurants. I know it is better for the general masses to eat grain prasadam than to eat no prasadam at all.........but why can't we offer non-grain prasadam only during ekadashis in Iskcon restaurants?

what are we afraid of? losing customers? lower prasadam distributions?

surely a little less revenue would not be a problem.

What do we gain by distributing only ekadashi friendly prasadam?

we spread awareness of Ekadashi mahatyam. Ekadashi would be further glorified & will get

greater exposure & publicity in front of general masses.......

Please help in clearing this doubt in my mind as I'm unable to comprehend how we can justify such a large defection from our norms.

There is also no publicity of glories of ekadashi \ significance of ekadashi \ stories of ekadashi \ Do's & Don'ts of ekadashi at such eateries either on ekadashi days.

This I speak from my experience in 2 of Kolkata Govinda restaurants.

Hari Bol!

    Hare Krsna Prabhuji,

    PAMHO.

I will direct you to meet HG Raja Prabuji of Kolkata Govinda's next time you visit.

For your information, Govinda's in Kolkata would keep a counter for ekasdasi prasadam on those days, but it closed down due to less business.

Even today, devotees who want to do programs on ekadasi, get a full feast from Raja Prabhu, if is informed in advance. I have myself arranged such a feast.

Why they do not preach about the glories of ekadasi in the restaurant - normally, I have not seen any preaching going on in any Govinda's restaurant that I have attended in any ISKCON centre in India - Kolkata, Mayapur, Mumbai (Juhu and Chowpaty) both, Delhi (Noida and East of Kailash both) or Bangalore. The purpose of Govinda's is to provide prasadam to people who crave to eat out - not to preach. Then it does become demand driven - if the demand is there for ekadasi prasadam, then they serve that (in Tirupati, both counters are there on ekadasi).

I must say it is a good suggestion - please have a chat with Raja prabhu and if he agrees, maybe you champion the cause and volunteer to preach about ekadasi mahatmyam on ekadasis in Govindas in Kolkata. Be the change you want to see prabhuji.
