EKADASHI VRATA

SIR I WANT TO KNOW;

CAN WE TAKE GRAINS ON DASHMI DAY COMBINED WITH EKADASHI TITHI WHICH IS THE OBSERVANCE DAY FOR EKADASHI VRATA.

OR WE SHOULD AVOID GRAINS FOR THE WHOLE PERIOD OF EKADASHI TITHI FROM THE START OF EKADASHI TITHI UPTO DWADASHI

    in Dashami - as i understand it is one day prior to Ekadashi? yes?

    if so then the day before Ekadashi we can take grains but on Sudha Ekadashi no, then in Dvadashi again we have break fast with grain.   You can find Vaishnava reminder Prabhuji, there are timings ....

    Your servant,

    • MAATE;

      MADAM FORGIVE ME IF YOU DON'T LIKE TO BE CALLED MAATE BUT IN INDIA IN RESPECT TO FEMALES WE CALL THEM MAATE AND TO MALES WE CALL SWAMIJI.

      THANKS THAT YOU UNDERSTAND MY QUESTION WELL.

      AND PLEASE TELL ME THAT HOW TO CONTACT VAISHNAVA REMINDER PRABHUJI.

    HK,

    It is said that during the ekadasi, kali resides in the grains. Also ekadasi is a very auspicious day, where we get more benifits by doind spiritual activities.

    More important than imposing rules of grains, no grains etc etc, it is better to concentrate on improving our spiritual life more to derive many benifits. During the time of Srila Prabhupada, Ekadasi means complete fasting, but later all these sabudana, varai and other ekadasi foods were introduced. The purpose of fasting is to concentrate more on spiritual activities rather than on food.

    So if the purpose of ekadasi is served then it is well and good rather than thinking what will i eat for this ekadasi, we can think over what extra spiritual activities will i do on this ekadasi.

    • SWAMI;

      BUT I AM ASKING ABOUT DASAMI EKADASI DAY WHICH IS DAY BEFORE THE EKADASI DAY NOT EKADASI DAY.

        we fast only in Suddha Ekadashi from grains Prabhuji, no in Dashami nor in Dvadashi.

        but if someone missed to fast on Ekadashi he should observe Fast on Dvadashi.

        Vaishnava reminder is not a prabhu but a software calendar which You can download and install in Your computer.

         Your servant,
