by not cooking, by not applying oil to the body...by minimizing gossips, we try to save time for devotional service to Krishna and to His Devotees.

As usually when we cook and eat the food nearly 3-4 hours are gone only for that.

Also sometimes some Devotees remain awake in order to chant even at night. So the main thing is to save time and use it for the service not only dry fasting. Or fasting for the sake of fasting.

Also this day is Lord Hari's day. Austerity performed on this day have doubled results.

Also from biological point of view on this day liquid on the universe starts to move resulting the liquid of our body move similarly. Which means senses become agitated. In order to keep them far from committing some sins we just fast and make them weak so that they are not able to perform anything without intelligence's permission.

    About benefits:

After every Ekadashi Devotee has to stand before the Deity and offer the results of his fasting to the Lord with prayers. And as a return gift request the Lord to give us more devotion to Him.

Devotee fasts to get more devotion.

    Your servant,
