As you know, our body is made up of 5 gross elements (earth, water, fire, air and ether) and 3 subtle elements (mind, intelligence and false ego). If you notice, all the elements are mentioned in this order itself in all the places. The reason is that each element is subtler than the immediately preceding one. Same way, mind is more subtle than ether, intelligence is more subtle than mind and ego is still the most subtle. When the soul leaves one gross body. the subtle body goes with the soul to the next body. That explains past life memories that some people have, or nature or likes and dislikes of every individual. Mind (manas) and intelligence (buddhi) are not same - they are different as is evident.

Brain is where the intelligence resides.
I hope I have been able to explain.
Haribol,
Your servant,
Rashmi
Manas and Buddhi are subtle elements and Brain is physical matter.
Manas is your mind, which is nothing but thoughts.
Buddhi is intellect. You can say, higher mind. But still its part of mind, which has the capacity to discriminate and observe things in detail.
Brain is just a storage unit/memory unit, which stores all the information which you perceive through your mind/intellect.

Subash
