Someone told me recently that earlier the mahamantra was beginning with "Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare, Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare", but only Brahmanas could chant this mantra. In order to make this mantra assessable by general masses Mahaprabhu changed it to beginning with "Hare Krishna Hare Krishna...". Is this true? If so what is the sastric reference to this?

Thanks
