The way of Devotion is devotional service. The word devotion is incomplete without service or seva. one who humbly chants the Mahamantra under the order of the Spiritual master thinking oneself to be lower than a blade of grass is the one who is on the path of pure devotional service.
And yes..devotional service is the only way!!

Because bhakti - devotion to Krishna does not have price.
It is price less. So we do not have money to pay for it.
So we cannot buy it with our pious deeds, money, charities...
Only thing is we get it as a gift from other Devotees.
When we please sincere Devotees, we get their blessings and that will make us Devotees.
When Devotees are pleased Krishna becomes pleased and He looks to that person with love because he pleased His Devotee.
So devotion to sincere Devotee of Krishna is the way to Devotion.
