Hare Krishna Mathaji,

Let me clarify that Srila Prabhpada has not equated deity service to a trailer of a film, that is why I had put it in bracket . Moreover it is easier for a person to understand because most of us have at sometime or other watched trailers of movies and we know that it gives us an impression of how the movie would be and a person can decide whether to go ahead and watch the film or not. Similarly, the intention of seva to the deities in this material world is to make a person decide whether to continue serving or stop it if he/she finds it cumbersome.

Please pardon me for using words "liketrailer of a film" as my intention was only to stress my point that devotional service in the material world makes us eager and ready to perform devotional service when we go back to Godhead after quitting this body.

Yes, You must organise reading of Garuda Puran, with the help of a scholarly priest who has been reading Garuda Purana for such occasions. The duration of reading Garuda Purana can be according to the facilities you have.Garuda Purana was specially written for this purpose, to elevate the mind of those whose relatives is leaving the world. After the Garuda Purana katha is completed, 11 brahmins are to be fed, and the wife of the priest who conducts this Katha should be presented with necessities of life (in case the person who died was a woman). We did that when my mother passed away. After all this, a yagna can be conducted, and therafter regular pooja of deities can be resumed.

Regards and best wishes.
