Let all the karma kanda rituals go on, along with that during the 11 days your grand mothers body is kept at your residence ,you can recite Srimad Bhagavatam translation in the language of your choice , the soul still lingers in the house she will be benefitted.
Sri vaishnavas also perform a ritual puja call EL GOSTE which is done to give the soul that passed away a place in Vaikunta, you can also do that. I did these two when my mother passed away .Finish all the Bhagavatam books , youll have to sit upto 6 hours to finish 1 or two books each day,
give everyone an opportunity to recite Bhagavatam, All of your relatives will be there so it will benefit Everybody.
Good question Prabhu... I would like to read all the responses to this question relative to the paradigm of the BG....are there rituals in BG like there are in the Tibetan Book of the Dead for example and how do they compare?
