PAMHO.
A lot of the important pastimes of Krsna in Vrindavan happened in this month. For eg: Damodar pastime, Govardhan pastime, Gopashtami - the first time Krsna goes out with the cowherd boys for grazing calves was in this month, Radha Kund - Shyam Kund appearance day (incidentally today). Thats why this month is considered especially auspicious for devotional service.
