Hare Krishna,
I have a question about correct Japa meditation. Am I able to do this anywhere at any time and I was told I need to shower before I start. Is this true?
Thank you for your time

Correct japa meditation is to clearly say the names and hear attentively your own voice while saying. The rest is a formality. You can take the name in any state of being, whether standing, sitting or even lying down (if you are not well and want to chant), whether bathed or not, whether eaten or not...... whatever.......
Ideally, get up at 4.00 am, and sit down to chant or if you feel sleepy, take bath and then chant non stop for 2 hours and complete 16 rounds before everyone wakes up or the day starts. Then your day will start as a blessing and whole day you will carry the good vibrations of having chanted in the morning.
