What You say is true. Because even in Bhagavad Gita Krishna says that sex life according to religious rules and regulations are divine activities - not activity for sense enjoyment but activity as a yagya.

In the reality it is a yagya.

To invite a soul and to give him a human body then guide him in his life and make him understand the real goal of life and go out from this material world.

Srimad Bhagavatam and all other knowledge of Vedas explain very scientifically of how one should prepare for getting a child.

Many rules and regulations, preparations. Because usually if one is not ready only souls from lower planets will enter to the body of the father and then to a woman. So if one wants to invite a soul from high planets one should purify his mind, body and consciousness.

For example, Pandu and Kunti Devi wanted to have a child so their first kid was Yudhishthira. The second was Bhima. But third time king Pandu decided to do great austerity for one year worshiping Lord Krishna and as a result they begot Arjuna - a great Devotee of the Lord.

Also Kashyapa Muni told his wife to follow many rules before she gets a child.

But one his wives Diti refused to do that and begot two demoniac kids Hiranyakashipu and Hiranyaksha.

So it is very important.

When 8 Vasus (if i do not commit mistake) were offended by Vasishtha Muni because they stoled his cow they had to take birth on Earth. So they did not want to enter into the womb of ordinary woman. So they requested Mother Ganga to be their mother. So she did. So if wife is also not pious one great souls won't take birth from her womb...

Other rules of how to get prepared is hidden. But many are already there in Srimad Bhagavatam. But some are hidden. Shastras like kama sutra are hidden. Those sutras which are found in shops are not real kama sutras.

It says that for 10000 years there will be a golden age - Satya yuga. So Demigods will appear on Earth in order to perfom Sankirtana Yagya. So real kama sutra is in hidden form. Slowly slowly by the progress of human consciousness they should be found and those Demigods will take birth on Earth.
