Contact with Material Nature

Hare Krishna.

In many places throughout his commentaries on the Vedic literatures, Srila Prabhupada writes that "somehow or other" we have come into contact with material nature, and that whereas the Supreme Lord knows how and why this took place, we do not (e.g. BG 13:20, purport). I find it curious that no information is given about this event (our "fall" into the ocean of nescience). Does any one know of any Vedic teachings about this event, even if only that teaching is about *why* we do not know?

Also, I find in texts such as the Brhadaranyaka-Upanishad that there are accounts of the origins of human beings, but I find such accounts hard to reconcile with the idea of a fall. Can anyone help clear up this difficulty? I hope I've communicated it adequately.

Haribol,

Your servant,

Doran

  •  His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada often says --->“If you want to remember Krishna, Krishna will give you all facility to remember Him, and if you want to forget Him, He will give you all facility to forget Him.”

BG 15.15: “I am seated in everyone’s heart, and from Me come remembrance, knowledge and forgetfulness. By all the Vedas, I am to be known. Indeed, I am the compiler of Vedānta, and I am the knower of the Vedas.”

If you can understand what that verse means....it says Lord Krishna is the one who gives remembrance of past or forgetfulness, all ur past lives' activities and memories can be known only by Krishna, and material nature which again works under His will.

So, the general rule of nature is that we forget our past life due to the trauma while exiting the womb, but it is only so because it is what the Lord has willed it to be

Material nature and its laws are not independent of the Lord. The utility of the laws of nature is to serve the plans and purposes of the Lord.

The foetus in the mother's womb is afraid to come out to the material world fearing the trauma of birth and being exposed to maya and prays to lord ..PLease forgive me.. I have misused my senses. Its stated clearly in SB

SB 3.31.14 — I am separated from the Supreme Lord because of my being in this material body, which is made of five elements, and therefore my qualities and senses are being misused, although I am essentially spiritual. Because the Supreme Personality of Godhead is transcendental to material nature and the living entities, because He is devoid of such a material body, and because He is always glorious in His spiritual qualities, I offer my obeisances unto Him.

SB 3.31.15 — The human soul further prays: The living entity is put under the influence of material nature and continues a hard struggle for existence on the path of repeated birth and death. This conditional life is due to his forgetfulness of his relationship with the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Therefore, without the Lord’s mercy, how can he again engage in the transcendental loving service of the Lord?

Why is the conditioned soul forgetting past relationship with Lord.?? is the question. Becoz he became averse to Lord and felt he is separate from Lord . The soul wanted to enjoy separately from lord. Because a desire to enjoy came into his mind...

Till then when he has no desire , the soul was only taking bliss in serving the Supreme Personality of Godhead.  The day his false ego took birth in him as a seed, he fell from the spiritual world.

False ego made him feel..he can derive happiness away from Supreme Personality of Godhead. Desire is the root cause of all evil.

FOR YOUR QUESTION I FOUND THE EXACT ANSWER HERE :

Please go thru this site very informative.

It says.. ........The Vaisnava acaryas have explained that the baddha-jivas have a different origin and nature than the nitya-siddhas, the eternal associates of the Lord, and do have a state of existence prior to their conditioned life in maya’s prison-house: They exist within the tatastha region( MARGINAL REGION BETWEEN SPIRITUAL WORLD AND MATERIAL WORLD), called the River Viraja. Here, they are not subjected to the three modes of material nature. They are not either under the influence of mundane time, jada-kala, but neither are they in cit-kala, eternal time, as Viraja is under some kind of special status of its own. Yet they are also not under the protection of the Lord’s cit-sakti, hence they are in a weak, inactive, indolent state. They are experiencing some atmananda, some brahmananda, but no sevananda nor premananda. They have some awareness of both worlds, but their vision of both is hazy, unclear. They are not fully Krsna conscious; their Krsna consciousness consists in their having some conception that they are the servant of Paramatma, Maha Visnu. Having free will, they have a choice. If they choose maya, then they fall down, and 99.99% make this wrong choice.

Please go thru the entire article to know it clearly.

Hare Krishna, Jai Srila Prabhupada ji ki.

    SB 3.31.14
The difference between the living entity and the Supreme Personality of Godhead is that the living entity is prone to be subjected to material nature…
