concerned in eating??

hare krsna, dandavat to all the dear devotess..

i would like to ask, it is said not to eat food prepared by non devotees and also not to associate with the materialist people..but certainly it is not possible at all time (even goes to our family who are not devotee) in that case how can we handle?? like my mom said u have to eat ice cream, bread, specially biscuits, cokes and many other stuff.. i know its not good from in any angle but i have no option rather to neglect them... so what shall i do now? mostly even if food stuffs are cooked the offering process is not done. i just chant mantra and eat.. i feel m lacking spritually behind due to this thing.. so what will be the best process for me(usually stands for most students??)

Well, Krishna exists everywhere, so while chanting a mantra and eating is great practice, you can extend this even further by taking a clean, unused plate specifically for Krishna (be sure that this plate is ONLY used for Krishna and has never been used by anyone else) and place it in front of an image of Krishna or the Panca-Tattva and Srila Prabhupada (since he is our spritual master). Chant Namo Om Vishnupadaya .. Namaste Saraswati Devi .. Jay Shri Krsna Chaitanya ... Hare Krishna (x3). And humbly request Krishna and Srila Prabhupada to please eat first.

Of course since you're not in a devotee family, it might be hard to do. But if they don't care, Haribol! If they do care and they begin to criticize Krishna and the practice, then just leave it and go back to your old process. It's better to do it that way than to have someone commit great offenses unknowingly.
