Hare Krishna to all Devotees and Lovers of Lord Krishna !
I try to read Srimadbhagwat Gita often (at least a few shlokas) and its really the greatest scriptures and makes one understand the purpose of life. While going through Srimadbhagwat Gita, i read a verse which states that" There is one sun only that illuminates the universe and stars & solar bodies reflect the light from the sun". Being a science enthusiast, i know from my understanding of science that there are trillions of suns and trillions of galaxies.
I can't really understand what this verse means. if someone could enlighten me over this, i will be really grateful.

Which verse prabhu? Where did you find a verse in Gita that states that there is only one sun. pls give reference.
Chapter-13, Verse-33
yathā prakāśayaty ekaḥ
kṛtsnaṁ lokam imaṁ raviḥ
kṣetraṁ kṣetrī tathā kṛtsnaṁ
prakāśayati bhārata
(O son of Bharata, as the sun alone illuminates all this universe, so does the living entity, one within the body, illuminate the entire body by consciousness)

the sloka is 13.34, you can see the word lokam is translated as universe. This universe is not the same universe described by modern scientists. In the Brhmanda (not universe as we understand), there are upper planetary systems (urdha-loka) and lower planetary systems (adha-loka) which are all illuminated by Sun. There exists unlimited brhamanda.

I read references and understood that till the orbit of Saturn, its called one loka. With better understanding of concept of universe and science, i can explain to others and they will agree how powerful Vedic knowledge & our scriptures have been.
