As long as the soul is in the body, the body is alive, in whatever state it is in. Once the soul leaves the body, it starts to rot and immediately the body has to be disposed off.
When one is in coma, a lot of instances are there when the person recovers from coma and relates near death experiences - as if someone was calling them from the other side and they took a conscious decision to come back to the same body. A lot of people revive and dont recollect any such experience.
