Hare Krishna dear devotees, Please accept my humble obeisances !
It is said that one should chant the Hare Krishna Mahamantra without material desires. It is also said that chanting the Hare Krishna Mahamantra frees us from material desires. This information is very contradictory. If we were chanting without material desires then there would be no need for the Hare Krishna Mahamantra to free us from material desires. Similarly if it is said that the Hare Krishna Mahamantra frees us from material desires then this is only possible when we chant with material desires. How can the Hare Krishna Mahamantra free us from material desires if we are already chanting without material desires ?

To chant with material desires means to chant the Holy Names of Krishna for fulfilling our material desires.
It is true we have many material desires but we should chant the Holy Names of Krishna only for achieving love for Krishna.
Because Krishna's Names give only love for Krishna.
If there are some problems with material things then we can chant the Vishnu Shasranama. Lord Vishnu is in-charge of this Universe. Every time when Demigods have problem they go to Him.
If they are attacked by demons, if they loose their kingdom....every time.
But Hare Krishna Maha Mantra gives only Krishna Prem.
While chanting these Maha Mantra we should sacrifice all our material desires and only hear these Names.
