If we don't take chanting the Holy names seriously, how can Krsna take us seriously and how can we have a serious relationship with Krsna.
It's vital that our most powerful connection with Krsna - the Holy names, is taken very very seriously. This present time in our life is the training ground for the final test - when we are on the edge of leaving this present body, when we are about to depart from this machine of material elements.....we can chant the divine sound vibration of Krsna's names and attain the Lord's abode.
There's a good saying about chanting - "Don't plan your Japa around your day, plan your day around your Japa".
I've often used this in the Japa Room broadcasts and it's a good way to emphasise the important of making our chanting of utmost importance.
We should always plan our morning centered on chanting Japa - sometimes we need to do other things first but chanting should be there in the forefront ahead of anything else in our day.
Let us all make an effort to make Japa the No. 1 priority in our life.

Its a very good habit to start doing 16 rounds and keep going enthusiastically every day

Yes chanting is the basis to approach Krishna. And it is best to complete 16 rounds in a way at morning,when the atmosphere is in mode of goodness. It benefits the spiritual aspirants.
