Hare Krishna !

Please accept my humble obeisances.

All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

Does any one know whether we can chant sharira avidya jal on ekadashi day?  I am not seeking an answer based on your personal opinion (please forgive me) but based on the policy and practices within and among the ISKCON devotees.

Secondly, is there any reference available regarding this?

YS,

Durga Basnet

Hare Krishna Durga Prabhu, please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

    sarira avidya-jal, jodendriya tahe kal,
    jive phele visaya-sagore
tar' madhye jihva ati, lobhamoy sudurmati,
    ta ´ke jeta kathina samsare

O Lord, this material body is a place of ignorance, and the senses are a network of paths leading to death. Somehow, we have fallen into this ocean of material sense enjoyment, and of all the senses the tongue is most voracious and uncontrollable. It is very difficult to conquer the tongue in this world.

Yes, we can read this prayer on Ekadashi day also. There is no problem.

link about honoring Prasadam and please read http://www.harekrsna.de/prasadam-prayer.htm

      Dear Mataji Maral,

      Please accept my humble obeisances.

      All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

In my place devotees only chant this verse before honoring prasadam on Ekadasi day:

      maha-prasade govinde
      nama-brahmani vaisnave
      svalpa-punya-vatam rajan
      visvaso naiva jayate

For those who have amassed very few pious activities, their faith in maha-prasad, in Sri Govinda, in the Holy Name and in the Vaishnavas is never born.

They say that it is not right to chant the other 2 verses (written by Bhaktivinode Thakur), because the 2nd verse says "sva-prasad-anna dilo bhai",  and "anna" means "grain" and there is no grain in Ekadasi prasadam... So in our temple whenever devotees are honoring prasadam together on Ekadasi day, they do not chant those 2 verses. But I do not know any official statement about this, a GBC law or anything like that, maybe some devotees know... Because that first verse of Bhaktivinode Thakura's prayer that you have quoted above does not say anything about grain, so I think it is completely fine to chant it... What do devotees in India chant on Ekadasi?

      Your humble servant

Thank you so much to Maral mataji for your reply.  My mentors also enlightened me about a few months that Sharira Avidya Jal should not be chanted on Ekadashi.

However, I wanted to find out some reference.  But the replies from :

Harish prabhu and Madhavi Lata mataji was really helpful.

      • Hare Krsna !

In our centre, we chant the full prayer but only leave the particular phrase "sva-prasad-anna dilo bhai"

        Rest all is ok

        Your humble servant

        Harish

        • Hare Krishna Harish prabhu and Madhavi-Lata mataji !
