usually i do not touch Gaura Nitay when i am in the train even if it for 48 hours. I try to serve to Them mentally. Offering food also mentally. But if the box is comfortable then we can just open the box and it is Darshan. So we can do Mangala Arati, offer incenses, flowers...Kirtan.

There are special mudras and mantras for purification of a body without water. I think if one wants really touch the Deity then one he should learn those purifying mudras and mantras. For this You can go to an experienced Pujari, Prabhu.

    Hare krishna, humble obeisances

Maral mataji is right. I remember, a neighbour devotee of my aunt's. They have big Jagannatha, Balram and Subbhadra ma. So wherever they go, they carry their Lord in a plastic with them because there is no one to look after them. And you can follow all the guidelines mentioned by mataji previously :)

    Haribol!

    • Hare Krsna, My humble Dandavats!

I have a similar problem. We have Sri Sri Gaura Nitai Deities at home. We are based in Malaysia and need to travel to India. We will be traveling by aeroplane. I am concerned about taking Them during travel. My specific concern is regarding Custom checks, X-ray machine checks, Holding Them in flights, since the flight attendants recommend to place your belongings in the overhead cabinet. So appreciate if some experience of taking the Deities in airplane will be helpful. Our Deities are about 8-10" in height. Thanks in advance for your response.

Hare Krishna dear Matangi Mataji, please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

If You do not have someone who can feed Him while You are not there at home then You should not leave Him alone but take Him where ever You go. I know many Devotees from Russia and other countries who do like that. Because when we have Deity we should not keep Him to sleep for many days or not even take care of Him. Krishna will leave the Deity form and ghosts will enter to the form and we will worship the ghost :O

To carry Gopal is not so difficult. You can carry Him a plastic box. I carry Them in something like the next:

2539349681?profile=original  but with covering like the next:

2539349740?profile=original And keep some dry fruits inside the box so that Gopal could eat when He becomes hungry. And also while You are in the train better to offer food to Him on Your mind buying some fruits...not brining Him out or touching Him because we did not take bath.

    And beg forgiveness for inconveniences.

Gopal is merciful He will understand. And when You are in the room then You can keep Him on the shelf there with keeping the door open.

    Your servant,
