My understand is that Tilaka is the symbol of a vaishnava, just like a policeman / policewoman wears uniform the tilak identifies a vaishnava so if you are walking in the street or wherever and perhaps someone needs to approach a religious person, they know you are one.

Tulsi Mala however in my understanding are neck beads. They should only be worn by individuals practising the four regulative principles and living as a vaishnava otherwise its bad to wear them. As the above prabhuji also mentioned, at the time of death, Yamrajs workers know as the Yamdutas will leave you alone because they know someone else is coming to take you to the spiritual world or higher planetary systems instead :-)

respected prabhu jis .. i personaly feel dat i sud first concntrate on my KC and wear these only if feel dat much qualified to wear or to dharan dm ... like Dipak prabhu ji said its not gud to wear them unneccessary......

Tulsi mala is a symbol of a " Patta"( neck belt) that we are not unprotected ordinary street dog, we are well protected dog of lord Krishna! and Tilak indicated.............. already replied in Anand Patel Prubhu ji's link!

Tilaka improves the consntretion of mind @ tulsi mala represent that you are a vaishnav follower. try to understand it is normal not very importent to find GOD.
