It was due to Ajamila's Bhakti which he rendered when he was young. In the reality Krishna just wanted to give to him this blessing through this sage.
It is Krishna's lila. He never forgets when we even once repeat His Name purely. Even once! We may forget it but He never forgets and always wants to bring us back.

might be Srila Prabhupada repeated it many times. What is Your goal Prabhu, is it great matter when and where he told about this? These talks are alive even today.
Whenever we read we directly associate with Srila Prabhupada. In this way he is always telling these stories.
I heard it also many times in the lectures of senior Devotees.

Actually I want to know the details so that I can also tell this story to other people. Unless we have a concrete proof of evidence, we can't tell a story in public. I looked in the web to find any other reference, specially reference from other acharyas of Gaudyia Sampraday but could not find anything related to it. Few blogs insinuated about this story but that is not enough I guess. Could you please give me any scriptural evidence or any authorized documentation?
