Brahmanas are not expert?

I was hearing in one of the class some time back that when SP started ISKCON, he introduced back the 4 aashrams viz Brahamahari, Grahasta, Vaanaprasta and Sanyasi but kept only one varna that is of Brahamana. SP's aim was to make every one into a first class devotee - a brahamana by nature and not by birth. That is why we see today in ISKCON and Gaudiya mutt that any one who is qualified to be a brahamana is given Brahamana initiation and is allowed to wear the sacred thread, chant Gayatri mantra and also perform deity worship of Sri Radha Krishna.

Coming back to your question as to what job a brahamana needs to do today in kaliyuga. We must understand that we are no longer in a position where a brahaman only does reading of shaastras and guiding other class of men and the other classes of men provide financial support to the brahaminical class. No this is just not going to work. So, as a devotee, one has to do his occupational duty in whatever field he is in be the God given skill and knowledge. At the same time try to practice Devotional service to as high standard as possible as directed by ones spiritual master. I know some of the spiritual master just do not give brahaman initiation for devotees who are working any where!!! Their argument is that a Brahamana is the first class of men in the society and they should not be obliged to work for any one. Chanykaya pandit was a very nice example. Even though he was the adviser of the King, he never took any order of the King because he never accepted any salary from the King.

One of the very senior devotees that I know suggest that a devotee should take up some job that pays quit descent salary for sustains of himself and his family but not too hectic as well. The best option is to go for teaching line. After 6th pay in India, teachers are getting quite a good salary and also the load is 20-22 hours a weak which is very nominal as compared to 12-18 hrs a day we work in IT industries.

Q. But they themselves never supposed to do these things. Does it mean that they were not able to do those things which they teach?

: see brahmana have high priority task that is devotional service or some other way to achieve liberation.

brahmanas are intellegent but this intelegence is mainly of spiriutal things like i m soul and i need liberation

other ashrams like kshatriya, vaishya and shudra are intellegent( for eating , mating , sleeping and defending) but attached and are in illusion

it says that brahmana is by quality not by birth. And it says that chandala is that who eats dog meat, it says that mlechha is that who eats cow meat. Yavana who marries to their own sisters or something like that.

But if a person stops those sinful activities and achieves good qualities then can they become brahmanas?

In Kali Yuga everyone is shudra. But Lord Chaitania told that there will be little particle of Satya yuga for 10 000 years. In this way we can say that there are brahmanas.

It is not humility to say that all are shudras. No i know Devotees who are very intelligent and compassionate. Can not we call them as brahmanas?!

We can.

Holy Name is so powerful that elevates one from a miserable conditions. In this way let's not say that there are only shudras!

But there are Devotees also with managerial qualities. I do not think that they are in illusion. They do it for Krishna. There are also Devotees with shudra or vaisha qualities but if they chant the Holy Names and attain good qualities does it mean that they will stop their duty according to their own nature?

No! They have to some how or other to survive. To maintain their bodies.

Or Prabhuji, do You mean that brahmanas are only those who give spiritual knowledge? Like our Guru Maharajas, Brahmacharis who live only for charity?

  if some one is selling knowledge, he is not a brahmana for sure. As u said, brahmana is by qualities and not by birth. It is not a right statement that only those who give knowledge are brahmanas. Many devotees are working and are second initiated brahmanas so it is not true at all that only those who give knowledge are brahmanas. and Vaishnavas are above brahmanas and judging any Vaishnava by the kind of service they are doing is a great offence as they are devotees and they cannot be judged by the kind of service they are rendering. They are serving Krsna according to their nature. Earlier the system was different. The shudras of those times were not devotees, they were sudras by their qualities. If they were devotees, they could not be called as Shudras, they are Vaishnavas.
  
  Today's so called brahmanas r not brahmanas. I have seen this personally. I have friends who belong from this community and have seen in their village how they break all principles a brahmana should follow.They engage in goat sacrifice to Goddess Kali and things like that. These are not activites of a brahamana.
