My apologies for not introducing myself earlier, and thank you for letting me join this forum. I have been doing some chanting and am a little worried that I could be wasting my time as I live too far away from the nearest temple to visit as we have no car and the train is expensive. Is it possible to chant in one's own home and still call oneself a Devotee?
I am a quite angry person and believe that the chanting of the Lord's names will help me to be a better person.
Many thanks for any help.
Tony.

Hare Krsna prabhu,
My obeisances to all devotees, guru and gauranga.
Welcome to krsna consciousness and the IDT forum.

No matter how a person chants, there is always going to be benefits because krsna’s name is pure and very very powerful. Any person who chants His holy names become purified and provides impetus to progress in the spiritual journey. A person who chants will all attention and with the intention to serve the lords develops a deeper loving relationship with the lord. A person who chants carelessly or without sincere intent will also benefit but to a minimal degree. This will eventually develop into deep love if the person strives towards better chanting. There is absolutely no hard and fast rules for chanting and can be chanted anywhere.
Who is a devotee?
A devotee is a person who is trying to know and love krsna through His names.
Wasting time?
How so? You are taking lords name and that will never go waste.

Any service rendered to the Supreme Personality of Godhead is never lost. A little devotional service rendered sincerely is a permanent asset. Please keep doing whatever sadhana you are doing. Even if you don’t go to the temple regularly, that’s ok. If possible try to visit any temple closer to you at your convenience to get devotee’s association. This will help you further in your devotional practices.
All the best prabhu. If you have more questions, feel free to write them.
Chant and be happy.
