Avataar & Vishnu, Shiva, Brahma

Hare Krishna Prabhu Dandwat

Yesterday in our Bhakti Vriksa class, there was a query that as per purport of Srimad Bhagwatam 1.3.29, Vishnu Tattva is 93% of 64 attributes of Bhagwan Krishna. Shiva is 84% and Brahma is 78 % while describing Avataras. Now the question is : Vishnu , Shiva & Brahma are avtaras of Lord or separate entity.

Another thing we hear that Krishna took birth from Devki in jail from Chaturbhuj roop of Vishnu.

Maha Vishnu, Khirodayi Vishnu and Garbhodayi Vishnu are the expansions of Lord Krishna.

Brahma has got it's age that means after the full age new Brahma takes place like the post.

Shiva is called some times Guna avtar but in this purpose it is written that he has 84% attributes but not the avtar.

In view of all above we want to know the actual position of Vishnu, Shiva and Brahma.

  • From many thousand people who  read Srimad Bhagavatam, maybe some of them are really reading it. From those who really reading it, maybe some of them understands it.

  • Srimad bhagavatam canto 1 chapter 3 text 29 does NOT say Vishnu Tattva is 93% of 64 attributes of Bhagwan Krishna, nothing like that is in text or purport can you give correct sastric evidence - NOT IN THAT VERSE!!

    Hare Krsna Prabhuji,

    PAMHO.

I will attempt to answer your question.

At the beginning of creation, the lord (Krsna) desired to create the world. He expanded Himself as Karanodakshayi Visnu. Then Karanodakshayi Visnu's pores of the body, each pore one universe started to emerge. Karanodakshayi Visnu impregnated the universe with His glance. The lord entered each universe as Garbodhakshayi Visnu. From the navel of Garbodhakshayi Visnu, lotus flower with Brahma emerged. When Brahma started creating, he first made Narada, then the 4 Kumaras. All 5 refused to increase the population of the universe, saying they are busy in hari bhajan. Then Brahma became angry and from the middle of his eye brows, Rudra was created.

Like you rightly said, Brahma has got age, and he is an elevated soul. If no soul qualifies to fill the post of Brahma, then the lord Himself expands into Brahma. I have heard in lectures of HH Bhanu Swamy Maharaj that the present 4 headed Brahma for our universe has been given a boon that he will not be affected by the three modes and that at the end of his life, he will attain liberation. At the end of Brahma's life, there is pralaya, full destruction. Then the entire creation process happens later again at the will of the lord.

These percentages are given to indicate that Krsna is the supreme, that all others are subservient to him.

THis is as much as I know prabhu.

Thanks for this crisp and to the point reply. But the question remains the position of Shiva. It is also mentioned that Rudra & Shiva are not same.

Vishnu Tattva is 93%. Vishnu & shiva are Avatars or individual entity. Hope our senior will guide us here in this forum for the benefit of devotees at large

Lord Shiva and Lord Brahma as Guna Avataras of the Supreme Lord. They are expansions of Lord Visnu who is the secondary expansion of Balarama.

This is a really nice reading. I am going through it. When audience put the questions then, if we are ourselves are not equipped with detailed knowledge of scriptures, it becomes very difficult. I will come back again for further clarifications.

      Thanks once again
