Hare Krishna Dandwat pranam all glories to Srila Prabhupada ji
Actually I am a student studying for competitive exam but even though studying 8 to 10 hrs regular than too I don't get any results, so my parents took me to an authentic astrologer. Astrologer said that due to his planetary positions and all that, he will not get any results despite trying very hard and not only now, but in his future too. As a solution to this he gave 6 types of japa and said that do these japa 1 lakh a month and continue this for 26 months. But I am already doing Hare Krishna mahamantra 4-5 or even 6 rounds per day also one should have nishtha on hare krishna mahamantra. So what shall I do now, shall I do the japa astrologer suggested along with mahamantra or shall I continue only mahamantra itself.
Plz give me answer 🙏

It is called maha mantra because it is the highest mantra.
Whether you should do the japas suggested by astrologer or only mahamantra is very personal. If is a factor of your faith on mahamantra and level of acceptance of whatever holds in the future. I understand that you are too young to comprehend all this.
Just to tell you a small story - before the Mahabharat war, Dhritarashtra called his family astrologer and asked about what is good date and what is the outcome of the war. The astrologer assured him that everything will be good for him and his sons. Halfway through the war, half of Dhritarashtra's sons were already gone and outcome was appearing bleak. Then he called the astrologer again and started to scold him for being a fraud. The astrologer said - whatever I have said stands. All the stars and planetary positions were in your favour, but there is a force over there on the other side, who can change the planetary positions and the result as well. You also know who He is and so do I.
Therefore, if there is any fear, then become more surrendered devotee of the lord. It also means that one has to then accept whatever comes one's way.
Choice is yours.

Typically the mantras that the astrologers ask to be done are done by some pandit, not by the jataka.
Nobody can say anything for sure about the future.
