I had been facing personal and financial troubles last couple of years as i have posted a seperate query in the discussion and forum three or four months ago remember and recently regarding that on a trip to meet one of my counseller for sorting out an personal issue and by the time an old brahmin about 70 or more age who is neighbour to that place passed away by severe heart attack a couple of months ago while at that time i was chanting the maha mantra few mins as usual and their relatives, neighbours were abusing and cursing me indirectly that i might be the cause for his death. i helped him to take by ambulance to hospital and later unfortunately he lost his life while travelling on the way.to be frank i never chanted the maha mantra for more than 10 mins before i join and took advice from ISKCON desire helpline and now this sad thing made me both physically and mentally sick. some peoples around my locality started saying that i am a mental and psycho guy and i am really worried. Added to my personal problems this issue stood up and i had been taking medication due to this incident i am psychologically affected and my parents are worried on my health and future and moreover all brahmins in temples are cursing on seeing me and tell me if still i continue chanting does it harm any other people or even to me like this? does the death of that brahmin have any connection with my prayers? do i need to seek for guru guidance? i am helpless and dropped? he is not even my relative or friend and i don't know how that can effect my prayers? problems are getting more and more complicated everyday and my entire family members are suffering due to these consecutive incidents. kindly advice if i am not wrong.

    Hare Krsna Prabhuji,

    PAMHO.

Like everyone else said, your chanting has nothing to do with that brahmana or anyone else's death. A 70 plus man dying is nothing strange in today's times.

I think you are taking a lot of unnecessary load - you need to take it easy. Maybe even visit a doctor to sort out the mental issues.

Above all, chant. Chanting has to be done in all circumstances.

    Hare krsna,

    All glories to Srila Prabhupad!!!

The straight answer is "No, you or your chanting is not the cause of your neighbor's death", period.

Now move over your concerns, pick yourself up from your sorrow state and start to chant again. When one takes up chanting, impediments are sure to come to test our resolve and determination for chanting the holy name.

Just ignore all the people and perform your duty as normal.

    Hare krsna.

  • You did nothing wrong. Chanting the maha mantra is admirable and should be respected. Do not listen to what other people have to say about you. Just do your best to be a good person and serve Krsna faithfully and don't worry about the rest. It is all in His hands. Trust Him.
  • I speak with honesty, I have never heard of a bigger nonsense than chanting Hare Krishna causing someone's death. This is 21st century !Maybe you should move to a better area.

  • connect to a psychologic impaccable person from the ashram and ask for service and tell about your psycological issues as detailed as possible. this is my advice

furthermore your chanting is fine and did not affect the death directly. your chanting can only benefit in a positive way by all means. no need to feel guilt. we all have to leave the body!
