Adi Purana

Hare Krishna,

PAMHO !!!

All glories to Srila Prabhupada !!!

In Adi purana,  Lord Sri Krishna says to Arjuna,

ye me bhakta-janäù pärtha
na me bhaktäç ca te janäù
mad-bhaktänäà ca ye bhaktäs
te me bhakta-tamä matäù

Those who are My direct devotees are actually not My devotees, but those who are the devotees of My servant are factually My devotees.

Any one has this "Adi purana", if you have please share.

Many thanks.

Ys,

Mukunda Chaitanya

  • Hare Krishna Dear Mukunda Prabhu,

Adi Puran belongs to the category of Upapurana. If the acharyas have commented on it(BRS) then it is authentic . Problem is later interpolation if any .

Srila Jiva Goswami in Sandharbhas has quoted a puranic statement which states  any text in other puranas is to be verified by satvik puranas if there is any contradiction .

I suggest you read Jiva Goswami's  sat sandarbhas  published by Sri Satyanarayana Das Babaji Maharaj . It is widely accepted as the best translation.

    • whats upapuran prabhu?? and this means aadi puran is not brahma puran as claimed by the link is it?

  • Respected Devotees,

OK so Bramha puran is also called Aadi puran as per the link then what about my major queries regarding "Vyas risi may or may not know" as said even by Lord Shiva and other acharyas as per the link. Lord Shiva knows everything. theres no doubt in that. How can HE say Vyas may or may not know?? also Radharani is mentioned in Bhagavatam which is also refuted in the link. Thanks

    br,

    Satish

    • Sri Radharani didnt mentioned in Srimad Bhagavatam, only in commentaries.

      • direct name isn't taken but indirectly mentioned. continue reading from this link!

        • SB 10.30.37As the two lovers passed through one part of the Vṛndāvana forest, the special gopī began feeling proud of Herself. She told Lord Keśava, “I cannot walk any further. Please carry Me wherever You want to go.”
SB 10.30.38Thus addressed, Lord Kṛṣṇa replied, “Just climb on My shoulder.” But as soon as He said this, He disappeared. His beloved consort then immediately felt great remorse.
SB 10.30.39She cried out: O master! My lover! O dearmost, where are You? Where are You? Please, O mighty-armed one, O friend, show Yourself to Me, Your poor servant!
SB 10.30.40Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: While continuing to search out Kṛṣṇa’s path, the gopīs discovered their unhappy friend close by. She was bewildered by separation from Her lover.
SB 10.30.41She told them how Mādhava had given Her much respect, but how She then suffered dishonor because of Her misbehavior. The gopīs were extremely amazed to hear this.
          .
That gopi for sure is more special then other gopies by walking alone with Krishna trough forrest, but she suffered dishonor because of her misbehavior.

          • actually even earlier than that

SB 10.30.27  — [The gopīs said:] Here we see the footprints of some gopī who must have been walking along with the son of Nanda Mahārāja. He must have put His arm on Her shoulder, just as an elephant rests His trunk on the shoulder of an accompanying she-elephant.

SB 10.30.28Certainly this particular gopī has perfectly worshiped the all-powerful Personality of Godhead, Govinda, since He was so pleased with Her that He abandoned the rest of us and brought Her to a secluded place.

SB 10.30.30These footprints of that special gopī greatly disturb us. Of all the gopīs, She alone was taken away to a secluded place, where She is enjoying the lips of Kṛṣṇa. Look, we can’t see Her footprints over here! It’s obvious that the grass and sprouts were hurting the tender soles of Her feet, and so the lover lifted up His beloved.
SB 10.30.31Please observe, my dear gopīs, how in this place lusty Kṛṣṇa’s footprints are pressed more deeply into the ground. Carrying the weight of His beloved must have been difficult for Him. And over here that intelligent boy must have put Her down to gather some flowers.
SB 10.30.32Just see how in this place dear Kṛṣṇa collected flowers for His beloved. Here He has left the impression of only the front part of His feet because He was standing on His toes to reach the flowers.
SB 10.30.33Certainly Kṛṣṇa sat down here with His girlfriend to arrange Her hair. The lusty boy must have made a crown for that lusty girl out of the flowers He had collected.
SB 10.30.34[Śukadeva Gosvāmī continued:] Lord Kṛṣṇa enjoyed with that gopī, although He enjoys only within, being self-satisfied and complete in Himself. Thus by contrast He showed the wretchedness of ordinary lusty men and hardhearted women.
SB 10.30.35-36As the gopīs wandered about, their minds completely bewildered, they pointed out various signs of Kṛṣṇa’s pastimes. The particular gopī whom Kṛṣṇa had led into a secluded forest when He had abandoned all the other young girls began to think Herself the best of women. “My beloved has rejected all the other gopīs,” She thought, “even though they are driven by Cupid himself. He has chosen to reciprocate with Me alone.”
  • Hare Krishna Prabhujis,
    PAMHO !!!
All glories to Srila Prabhupada !!!

I am very much convinced about the existence of this purana, as it is quoted in our scriptures. My endeavour is to find the full text of this purana, if I can.

Next, with regard to the statement, I feel, Krishna wants us to become the servant of His pure devotees. He does n't like to accept our direct service. This makes sense. Even in the material world, we can't serve the king or boss directly.

    Jai Srila Prabhupada !!

    Hare Krishna !!

    Ys,
    Mukunda Chaitanya
    hare krishna !!
  • i dont think one should go against our previous aacharyas.they were not like a normal man they were a first class vaishnva and mukta purusha.whatever they have said is true. our own opinion is maybe another but we are really eligible to challenge their statements ?

our aacharya's all books are based on previous gaudiya aacharyas books.if they cite something from adi purana or any other purana, its authentic.because every rajasik or tamasik purana also tells something about krishna the absolute truth, every purana has some importance they are not false.

this is my opinion.please correct me if im wrong.

if my opinion offended someone then please prabhujis forgive me.dandavata !

    jay srila prabhupada !!

    hare krishna !!

    • I AM challenging the authenticity of web page not acharyas. its because of VYAS risi our previous acharyas were able to know about Krishna puranas, upanishads and other shastras otherwise how would they know?? Vyas risi is incarnation of Krishna and they wouldn't dare say HE doesnt know!! sorry if I offended you. my intentions are never like that. thanks
