About Lentils

Hare Krsna!

Please accept my humble obeisances.

All Glories to Srila Prabhupada!

I know that we shouldn't offer red lentils to the deities. (If you know the reason why I will appreciate if you can explain.) But what about the green lentils? Are they offerable? Because in ISKCON deity worship manual, in one part it is written do not offer red lentils, in the other part do not offer lentils...As far as I know we can offer green lentils. Am I wrong?

Thank you for your assistance.

There are so many other Lentils, you can find them in any indian store worldwide. they are called, Toor or Arhar, Mung, full, mung split, mung washed, Urad, full or washed or split. chick peas white and brown, black eyed peas. All full of proteins, very healthy.

    Dear Mataji!

    All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

I heard the following explanation in Deity Worship Seminar by HH Bhakti Vidyapurna Swami Maharaja:
The red lentils are considered to be in the mode of passion, therefore they are not offered to the Deities.
The other lentils (brown, green) are not considered to be very high class, but they can be offered to the Lord.
