I have one question .

I chant daily 16 rounds of Mahamantra.

I want to know is it mandarory to chant mahamantra only or shall i chhant 16 rounds of any other mnatra like ...Om namoh Bhagvate Vasudevaye ...

    Lord Chaitanta Mahaprabhu has recommended the Hare Krishna Mantra as being the Maha-mantra - the GREAT MANTRA - so why bother chanting a not so GREAT mantra. The acharyas have recommended a minimum 16 rounds of japa for self-purification. Don't speculate, just chant yhr GREAT MANTRA and get purified. After purification you will see everything in a new light. The safest path is to follow the acharyas - who follow in the footsteps of Mahaprabhu. Regards Samrat

    Hare Krishna Navii,

    All of our mantras have their place.

    Om namo bhagavate vasudevaya...  Chant it for a while before you study our Scriptures.

    Krishna will be pleased with this, and give you intelligence to see Him through the Scriptures.

    Then, Chant Hare Krishna, and you will feel closer to the Lord.
