For every yuga there is suitable type of devotional service. In Satya yuga people used to live very long life and they had very powerful intelligence because of that they used to perform meditations for thousands of years, not eating, sleeping because body is also very strong.
In Treta yuga people did yagyas because they had very much opulences and knowledge but not so long life span and so strong as people in satya yuga bodies, intelligence.
In Dvapara yuga by worshiping to Deity form of the Lord one could attain love for Godhead.
But in the age of Kali life span is very less, intelligence is already lost 9-10%, body is weak - we can not eve survive for 2 days without food and water, mind is disturbed ....
In this way our condition is very very very miserable, our disease is very bad. Because of that the medicine also should so powerful. Because of that all scriptures on the contrary glorify the age of Kali. Because in this age Lord comes in His most merciful form - Holy Name.
Only by chanting the Holy Names one can achieve that which is achieved in previous age or even more.
