KAMLA DEVI – MAUSI JI OF KOLKOTA- A RARE PERSONALITY
Kamla Devi is a devotee of Khatu Shyamji. She is 60+ and alive. In her youth only her husband died. Before death he advised his wife that you will never be a widow even after my death since you are married to Shri Krishan Bhagwan. This is my last wish and I hope you will honour my wishes.
From that time on she started devoting her full time towards worshipping the God, Shri Krishna. Now for the last 30 years, she is taking tea prepared with one glass of milk daily. She is performing puja and worships Shri Krishna, and then she decorates one big photo of Sri Krishna ji with Chumkis and after that she takes one glass of tea. This is the only food which she is consuming during the entire 24 hours. She is following this practice for the last 30 years.
At present also, she is very active, a great devotee of Shri Krishna and extremely energetic. She has a following of thousands of devotees who pray for her reverentially.
By the grace of the Lord, I had the chance to meet her in person. I touched her feet....she does not talk to anyone before she finishes her morning routine of decorating Krishnajis image. She didnt talk to me....but the attitude she showed was extreme polite and full of happiness....she called another lady and enacted a few things which the other lady explained me - I found her full of happiness!

I had known a bhajan "Thali Bharkar Lai Khichdi" for quite some years and heard the story related to this in the family. I just browsed today on wikipedia and found the story here also. Just thought to share the same. The below text is from Wikipedia itself.
Karmabai was a Jat known as- Bhakt Shiromani Karmabai. She was born in the family of Jiwanji Dudi in the village Kalwa situated in Nagaur district. She was a devotee of Krishnaji.
The story goes.like this- Karmabai's father was a devotee of Krishna. Once upon a time he had some work outstation, so he instructed her to offer the food(bhog) to the Lord and then only she should eat.
Karma was very young and she took this instruction literally. Next morning she woke up early and made khichda for offering the Lord. But when she saw that Lord is not eating, sincere towards her father's instructions innocent Karmabai did not eat anything at all and waited for the Lord to come and eat first.
Lord Krishna was very impressed by her determination and showed mercy on her. He himself appeared before her and ate her khichda. He followed the same routine till her father didn't returned. When her father returned she told him everything, her father was shocked in disbelief and thus Karma pleaded Lord to appear once again to prove her true. And very merciful Lord Krishna did appeared once again to keep his devotee's respect.
Thali bhar'r lyayi khichado upar ghee ki batki !

Hare Krsna Mataji,
PAMHO.
Wonderful story mataji. Thank you for sharing. It is so nice to realise that the lord's devotees are so many, in so many forms and loving Him and worshipping Him in so many ways.
It is tremendous austerity to have only one glass of milk tea the whole day, for years and years. Dandvats to her.
Haribol,
Your servant,
Rashmi
