The 4 regulative principles are No Meat eating,no illicit sex,no gambling and no intoxication.This rules are not ISkcon rules they support Dharma's four legs i.e Sathyam(Truthfulness),Saucham(Cleanliness),Tapah(Austerity) and Daya(Mercifulness).
Killing innocent animals will kill Daya in us
By telling lies(Gambling will induce us to lie) satyam will reduce.
By indulging in illicit sex cleanliness will get reduce (internal cleanliness and external also)
By taking intoxication,austerity will vanish and he will be in control of his mind.(He commits all nonsense).
So by following this 4 regulative principles we can fight Kali and we can come to Human flatform to advance in spiritual realization.
One who follows this 4 regulative priniples and chant hare krishna daily he is considered to be the best among intelligent man.
That is why in ISKCON we follow 4 regulative principles and chant hare krishna.
