Strategies to overhaul the “Slaugtherhouse Civilization”

By Bharat Chandra das

The present civilization is clearly a “Slaughterhouse Civilization”! There is an act of murder in every fibre of it’s construction. Ever increasing greed for economic gains is the goal. We all know, this experiment has been disastrous. The rebelliousness on the values and culture of a sustainable past propagated by scientists and leaders combined has entered the blood of every citizen of the modern world. It has taken

You will not be the loser

When Krishna played the flute, the gopis, they left their parents, they left everything to join Krishna. Well I tell you my friends whenever the kirtan of the holy name is going on with association of saintly persons; the flute of Krishna is playing. How many of us are in the mood of gopis. They were ready to risk everything, to lose everything, to join the kirtan that is the qualification and the value. On Sunday, Krishna is playing His flute all day long in Radha Gopinath Mandir. But His flute

The Proud Prideless Devotee

While a devotee is never proud of himself, choosing to always remain meek and humble, he is nevertheless very proud of so many things. He is proud of His wonderful Lord Sri Krishna, who is constantly showering unlimited mercy upon all living beings. He is the proud of his spiritual master, who is delivering him from the cycle of birth death. He is proud of the devotees who are sacrificing their lives to push forward the Krishna consciousness movement for the benefit of all living beings. He grea

See God by Becoming His Friend?

Question: See God by Becoming His Friend?

Please accept my humble obeisances

I would like to ask you following question:

Is it true that the biggest qualification to see God is the eagerness and determination to become His friend?

Regards,
Sunil

Answer: No. By Becoming His Servant We See God.

No. Friend means on an equal level. If we want to see God we must subordinate ourselves to Him as His humble servants. It is only when Arjuna gave up the mood of being Krishna's friend and accepted Him as His spi

Sankirtan bus

After Ratha-yatra, the double-decker bus, headed by Madhudvisa Swami, set off for a grand sankirtana tour of New South Wales and tropical Queensland, reaching towns along the way that had never seen a devotee, let alone a busload of them.

Madhudvisa: Apart from the unusual colour scheme, the travelling bus looked much like a regular bus -- so much so that occasionally people would get on board. If they could handle the association, and were going in our direction, then they'd get a f

Hare Krishna dear Devotees! PAMHO! AGTSP! here i found a story from Facebook. Sister Champakalata had sent. It might be repeated but it is worthy for that.

September 12 – 24, 2004, Russian Federation.

"My Chest Swells Up With Pride"

On the way out, one of my disciples, Ragalekha dasi, approached me. She is a woman in her late 40s, and I remembered her as a faithful disciple who always made it a point to come to my programs when I visited Russia. So when she asked me to visit her apartment to s

[Karabhajana Risi to Maharaj Nimi]: "Accompanied by His personal devotees, Lord KRSNA, assuming a golden color, introduces the hari-nama-sankirtan, the chanting of the Hare Krsna mantra, in the age of Kali. By this process, He delivers love for Krsna to the general populace. Lord Krsna, the son of Nanda Maharaj, personally introduces the occupational duty of the age of Kali. He personally chants and dances in ecstatic love, and thus the entire world chants congregationally.

Question: Is Krishna the Lord of Jesus Christ?

If Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, does that mean that He is the lord of all, including, for example, Jesus Christ?

R.P.

Answer: Jesus Worships Krishna as God, the Father

Regarding Krishna's being the Supreme Personality of Godhead, there is no question of "if." Krishna absolutely is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Thus He is the origin and lord of everything and everyone including Jesus Christ, who worships Him as God, the Father whe

Stay away from the blame game

One of the most insidious tempting habits is the habit of blaming others or external conditions for our failures, mistakes, problems, and lack of success. You might call it “the blame game.”

Blaming others is a very easy thing to do. It creeps into our lives in subtle, as well as not so subtle ways. It shows up in our thoughts and in our conversations. We might, for example, think to ourselves, “I’d be more successful if the products I were selling were of better quality,” or “I’d make more money

Question: Why Isn't Just One Japa Round Sufficient?

Please accept my humble obeisances.

Since the Hare Krishna mantra is so powerful, why isn't one round of japa chanting equal to sixteen rounds? Why are we told to chant more and more, if it is so powerful?  Why isn't merely one round sufficient, if it is so powerful? I understand that because we are not pure repeated chanting is required to purify us. But still I have a doubt: Why just one round is not sufficient, if all powers are there in Krish

Delight in the success of others

Delight in the success of othersLet’s be honest here. Have you ever found yourself secretly wishing someone else would fail? I don’t mean you wish them any serious bad luck, only that they don’t become more successful than you? Sometimes it’s hard to wish others well, particularly those you know well – friends, colleagues, neighbors, family members. It’s hard to see a colleague get the promotion you worked so hard for. It’s difficult to see your friend on television, or your neighbor able to pur

Sankirtana

Orders to stop chanting Hare Krsna on the streets were not without historical precedent. In the Caitanya-caritamrta it is described that almost five hundred years previously, city officials in the town of Navadvipa, West Bengal, were approached to expel Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu Himself and His entire sankirtana party from the town. The local people requested the Kazi (magistrate), "Sir, you are the ruler of this town. Whether Hindu or Moslem, everyone is under your protection. Therefore

‎"Because Krsna know everyone's future does not remove our free will. Someone may

commit a theft, and if I know that then I know that he will be captured and punished.

That is knowing his future, but know that future does not mean that he had no choice not

to commit the criminal act. There are two destinies for every one. One destiny is in.

Krsna Consciousness and the other destiny is in material consciousness, so if someone is

in Krsna Consciousness then Krsna knows his future and if he is in mate
