"Religion" is the world's most misunderstood and abused word. Real religion means the science of God, the process of fully reviving one's original pure identity by reconnecting oneself with the source of his existence. But instead, without ever understanding religion's real meaning, people take it either as a fable for childlike fools or as a divisive sect for fulfilling their temporary material desires. Thus they cheat themselves and remain perpetually in the darkness of ignorance miserably mis

the trash in his thoughts subsided

Arjuna's constant remembrance of the lotus feet of Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa rapidly increased his devotion, and as a result all the trash in his thoughts subsided.

PURPORT

Material desires in the mind are the trash of material contamination. By such contamination, the living being is faced with so many compatible and incompatible things that discourage the very existence of spiritual identity. Birth after birth the conditioned soul is entrapped with so many pleasing and displeasing elements, which are all f

Go on chanting

Tuesday, Vrndavana, 7 November 1972

Pradyumna was reading from Chapter One of Nectar of Devotion, describing the six characteristics of pure devotional service. "Srila Rupa Gosvami has given a definition of auspiciousness. He says that actual auspiciousness means welfare activities for all the people of the world."

Srila Prabhupada gave his spoken purport:

"Yes. Just like this Krsna consciousness movement. It is welfare activities for all the people of the world. It is not a sectarian

How to Serve Guru in Separation?

Question: How to Serve Guru in Separation?

My dear Guru Maharaja,

All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

When the student or disciple receives instructions from the bona fide spiritual master how can he render service to his guru when they are not in the same place?

Which is the best service to render to one's guru?

Thank you delivering me from the miserable prison of this material existence  You are showing me the way to go back home, to that place that I'm from,

Turn Your Life into a Song of Love

Therefore he turns his entire life into a beautiful song of love of God by always keeping himself fully absorbed in serving Krishna in all times, places, and circumstances.

Radha Govinda Jhulana Yatra begins

Radha Govinda Jhulana Yatra begins

One of the most popular events in the holy town of Vrindavan, India - where Lord Krishna appeared 5,000 years ago - is the celebration of Jhulan Yatra, the Radha-Krishna swing festival. In Vrindavan among the local villagers and inhabitants this festival lasts for 13 days. In Vrindavan this is one of the biggest festivals of the year and Vrindavana is very crowded at this time, literally hundreds of thousands of people from surrounding towns and villages v

The Incident

I own a sweet shop in the street leading to the famous Shri Banke Bihari Mandir in Vrindavan. I am talking of a time when the city was not so well developed and crowded. There were no concrete structures though we had certain two storied houses but most of the houses were single storied. Electricity was yet to become popular in the city. Most places in the market were lit up using kerosene lamps, the humble goosenecks or kuppis. Petromax wer

Monkey for 20 days!

In Holy Braj, no, it is not good,

To maintain material mood.

Those desires me now killing,

As if they stopping my breathing.

I am in the topmost place,

In the holiest land in all universe.

It is Radha and Shyama Kund,

Crest jewel of all which are around.

The foolish monkey is me,

For saintly people as like enemy.

Everyone busy with Holy Names,

Loudly chanting: Radhe! Radhe!

All came to serve, all came to chant,

To feed their Bhakti plant.

Surrounding Sri Govardhan they do penance,

Dirty vision in Vraj

Today I saw a man smoking,

Oh, my God, in the holy place he is so doing!

Leave it mind, for him permission,

You just try to purify your own vision!

Then saw a pig stool eating,

Oh, my God, in the holy place he is living!

Leave it mind, for him permission,

You just try to purify your own vision!

Saw a monkey who was stealing,

Oh, my God, it is not for others' well being!

Leave it mind, for him permission,

You just try to purify your own vision!

Meet a person who himself Paramatma claiming,

Oh, my

The Patient (A Krishna-conscious short story)

The Patient

The attractive woman in her mid-thirties knocked on the door of the consulting room. Her usual pleasant face was clouded with worry and the picturesque journey from Mumbai to the hill-station Mahabaleshwar had done little to cheer her up.

“Yes?” asked a voice from inside the room.

She entered and said, “Dr. Sathe?”

The portly man with the ruddy complexion looked up from his desk and smiled. “Yes, that would be me. Good afternoon, please take a seat. How may I help you?”

She settled uneasi

Come to Krishna Bhakti

2514841796?profile=original

This is in continuation of the transcription of the lecture delivered on 15th March 1992 in Singapore, by our beloved spiritual master H H Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj, very very lovingly explaining the reason why the scriptures have been written and the way to get attracted to the scriptures. Maharaj was referring to the verse 1.7.6 of Srimad Bhagavatam

Here are some very nice words from Srila Prabhupada in Beyond Birth and Death:
The simple process of chanting the names of Krsna will reveal what one is, what God is, what the material and spiritual universes are, why we are conditioned, how we can get out of that conditioning—and everything else, step by step.
Such meditation on Krsna may seem very difficult, but it is not. If one practices Krsna consciousness by chanting the mahä-mantra, Hare Krsna, HareKrsnaKrsna Krsna, Hare Hare/ Hare Räma,

Importance of being pious

Without being pious, nobody can understand. Yesam tv anta-gatam papam jananam punya-karmanam, te dvandva-moha-nir...So the punya-karma means yajna-dana-tapasya... That is called punya-karma, pious activities. So in this age who is going to perform yajna? Where is that capacity? It is not possible. And who has got money to give in charity? Everyone is poverty-stricken. Mandah sumanda-matayo manda-bhagyah [SB 1.1.10]. Everyone is unfortunate, everyone in this age. So how he can give in charity? An

Simplicity is vaisnavism

Although many persons may come to hear Srimad Bhagavatam, who is actually hearing? To whose ears do these words penetrate and go deep into the heart? There are many that are posing to be hearing, but actually they are not hearing. The words are entering into one ear and going out the other. It never penetrates to the heart because they have no faith. They are crooked persons. They are not simple. This is the only reason. They have no faith in the revealed scripture. They are doubtful persons, so

ATTACHMENTS

The night fell heavy in the heights of the mountains and the man could not see anything. All was black. Zero visibility, and the moon and the stars were covered by the clouds. As he was climbing only a few feet away from the top of the mountain, he slipped and fell in to the air, falling at great speed. He could only see black spots as he went down, and the terrible sensation of being sucked by gravity. He kept falling and in the moments of great fear, it came to his mind all the good and bad ep
