April 12, 2016 : I’m still in Mayapur, contacting devotees who are doing padayatra right now, preparing one, or seriously thinking about it.

During the 8 day 2016 ISKCON Leadership Sanga, we had a padayatra booth and held 3 padayatra seminars, which provided new contacts and padayatra organizers. In the display area, there were 2 giant displays of Padayatra worldwide. (See attached photos).

The 2016 Padayatra Newsletter is very attractive and innovative. Lokanath Swami liked it

Focus of purpose is what I was thinking about and that is what I would like you to think about. What is your purpose? I am not going to carry people and sort of micromanage their life. Of course, if you want to ask about material life, how to deal with it, I will try to answer. But whatever advice I give about material things, it is not necessarily absolute. When I give advice about scripture, Krsna’s or Prabhupad’s teachings, that is absolute. But for questions like, ‘Should I stay in this cou

Who Controls Our Mood?

Last evening, after returning home from work, my friend suddenly burst into a fit of intense rage. He was howling, screaming, followed by an outburst of tears. His mother approached me asking me to look into what exactly was troubling her son. After interacting with him, I learnt that his boss had reprimanded him that morning for an error that he had committed in his work. Now, something that the boss told him just once that morning had been lingering on his mind all through the day right till t

THE POWER OF THE CONCH SHELL OF SHRI HARI

THE POWER OF THE CONCH SHELL OF SHRI HARI

Dhruva did intense penance on the encouragement of his mother Suneeti and as per the advice of Saint Narada.  His penance was so intense that all the three worlds trembled as Dhruva continued focussing within him that form and shape of the Supreme Being, the very source of all the principles starting with Mahat Tattva and also the Controller of both Prakriti and Purusha.

When that prince stood with his one leg, at that time the earth which got pressed wi

Question: If soul is constitutionally Caitanya (conscious) and not influenced by karma, then how does karma influence its rebirth?

Romapada Swami Answers: If someone lost their hard-earned money, the person himself is not hurt by the incident, but because they are attached to the money and identify it as their property, they have to suffer the consequence of the loss. Similarly, the soul mistakenly identifies himself with the material body, and thus becomes attached and 'conditioned' by the desir

HOW THE DETERMINED DRUVA PASSES THE TEST OF SAINT NARADA

The story of Dhruva is not a mere story. It has very high philosophical and spiritual contents and, if properly analysed and understood, it gives much insight into the devotional services towards Shri Hari as well as the aim for which such services are undertaken by persons in different occupations in life for the fulfilment of their desires.

Chapter 8, Volume 4 of Srimad Bhagavatam is the first chapter dealing with Dhruva’s life and how he

Mechanics of Spirituality.

2515089233?profile=original

At 4.30am each morning the monks commence their 4-hour spiritual workout. Each and every day, 365 days a year. To an onlooker it may seem like a monotonous and mechanical regime; somewhat of a holy ‘boot camp.’ Seasoned practitioners, however, will testify that these tried and tested external practices open up an internal world of bottomless depth. There is something beautiful about simplicity and sameness. With the proper attitude, it can help one become more conscious, more tuned a

Practicing Love.
Ananda Dasi: When we ask ourselves the question ‘Why do we exist?’ we begin the search for meaning in our lives. If we accept that we exist not just in this life span, but beyond, that question brings us to face the very core of ourselves.
The answer that the teachings of Bhakti give us is that we exist to be in relationship with the source of our existence. That is, we are part of Krishna eternally, exist eternally and the deepest and most satisfying part of our being is

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 29 October 2014, Vrindavan, India, Srimad Bhagavatam 5.13.22)

In the beginning of our spiritual life, we come with lots of enthusiasm. Then, after some time, we lose that initial fire and we come into a realm of struggling with all the high standards of Krsna consciousness. We do not feel the same inspiration that we had in the beginning. Then, what do we do? At that point, what can we do?

Srila Prabhupada explains that one must chant in a mood of a helpless child.  So
