When someone gives you an answer that is different from what you expect…

A teacher teaching Maths to seven-year-old Arnav asked him, "If I give you one apple and one apple and one apple, how many apples will you have?" Within seconds Arnav replied confidently, "Four!"

The dismayed teacher was expecting an effortless correct answer (three).  She was disappointed.  "Maybe the child did not listen properly," she thought.  She repeated, "Arnav, listen carefully.  If I give you one apple and one apple

It's called Mindset

As I was passing by the elephants, I suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg.

No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from the ropes they were tied to but for some reason, they did not. I saw a trainer nearby and asked why these beautiful, magnificent animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away.

"Well," he said, "when they are very young

How Can a Soul Leave Vaikuntha?

Answers According to the Vedic Version:

Question: How Can a Soul Leave Vaikuntha?

Dear Gurudeva,

You have told us that those souls in the spiritual world who have the desire to become God will come to this material world. If a soul is completely satisfied in the company of God in Vaikuntha, the spiritual world, how can he have an unsatisfied desire? If a perverted desire can come to the soul even while he is the company of God, what is the assurance that we will not fall back to the material world

Chanting some stotras

Trana-karta prabhu gave me another tape this morning featuring Akincana Krsna dasa Babaji, another of Prabhupada's Godbrothers, chanting some stotras. After I told him what Prabhupada said yesterday, he wanted to verify whether this tape was bona-fide.

I played it for Prabhupada to hear during massage. Again Prabhupada said it was all right to listen to. But he shrugged and said, "They will never be able to pronounce these things, neither they will ever be able understand the

HARE KRISHNA

Shiva works for the benefit of everyone, and tries to help the living beings make spiritual advancement. This is why he has his own line of disciplic succession. This is also why he says to the sons of King Pracinibarhi, “Any person who is surrendered to the Supreme Personality of God, Lord Krishna, the controller of everything, is very dear to me.”1

The sons of the King were going to practice austerities to worship Lord Vishnu and while searching for a suitable place happened to find

One needs to be Faithful

One needs to be Faithful

The impersonalists are full of duplicity. Sometimes they pretend to execute devotional service, but their ultimate idea is to become one with the Supreme. This is duplicity, kapata.

The Bhagavatam does not allow this duplicity.

In the beginning of Srimad-Bhagavatam it is clearly stated, paramo nirmatsaranam: [SB 1.1.2] "This treatise Srimad-Bhagavatam is meant for those who are completely free from envy."

The same point is again stressed here. Unless one is completely fa

Don’t let success go to your head

Don’t let success go to your head

There’s an alarming trend: People who have had some degree of good fortune and success tend to lose their humility and become at least slightly arrogant. This is very unfortunate for many reasons. First, and most obviously, no one really wants to be around someone who is arrogant or self-absorbed. It’s boring, and it’s annoying! Arrogance implies a lack of gratitude. The assumption is, “I did this all by myself; it’s all about me.”

Factors such as our good karma,

Do You Have Love For It

0203_mad_2_1.jpg
Recently I read an article written by Satsvarupa Maharaja - he was asking himself the following questions.
Do you pay attention to Hare Krishna mantra when you chant? Do you have love for it?
This got me thinking about my own chanting and how much I have love for chanting - the answer was yes and no. Yes I like to chant, I wouldn't say I love to chant but I like it and I love it when I feel the Lord's spiritual energy.
It's an important point....we need to feel the spiritual energy of the Lord when
