Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

In Srimad Bhagavatam we read about the fight between the demigods and demons for the nectar. During the fight the nectar dropped on four places on earth ie:- Prayag (Allahabad), Nasik, Ujjain, Haridwar. It is believed that the same nectar still comes to these places once every 12 years during certain planetary configurations and it is celebrated as Kumbha mela. This year the Kumbha mela was celebrated in Allahabad and mi

Some planning, anticipating, and looking forward to future events and accomplishments are an important and necessary part of success. You need to know where you’d like to go in order to get there.

However, most of us take this planning far too seriously and engage in futuristic thinking far too often. We sacrifice the actual moments of life in exchange for moments that exist only in our imaginations. An imagined future m

Thought Of The Day

So we should always remember that Krsna is very, very kind, and a slight devotional service to Him will please Him, and therefore He is begging, patram puspam phalam toyam yo me bhaktya prayacchati [Bg. 9.26]. What you will give to Krsna? He is self-sufficient. But if you give something to Krsna, your life becomes successful.

How he felt while dying?

What he would have eaten the night before or whether he was able to even eat something? What he might be feeling? How he would have reacted on seeing the noose? How much pain he would have experienced during his last moments? The recent hanging of the terrorists in India may have been celebrated by some and condemned by others - let us not get into the ethical aspect of death sentence. But one thing which everyone discussed and thought about was as how these people would have reacted during thei

Gopis

Krsna was very pleased with the atmosphere of the forest, where flowers bloomed and bees and drones hummed very jubilantly. While the birds, trees and branches were all looking very happy, Krsna, tending the cows and accompanied by Sri Balarama and the cowherd boys, began to vibrate His transcendental flute. After hearing the vibration, the gopis in Vrndavana rememb

The Deity Who Was Called as a Witness

Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

At Vidyanagara in South India there were once two brahmanas who decided to make a long tour to see different places of pilgrimage. First they visited Gaya, then Kasi, then Prayaga. Finally, with great pleasure, they came to Mathura. There they visited all twelve forests of Vrndavana, saw Govardhana Hill and at last came to the town of Vrndavana itself.

In Vrndavana, a

Ladies and gentlemen, devotees and all the sannyasis present, I thank you very much for kindly joining this Ratha-yatra festival. This festival has been going on in India for more than 2,000 years in the city of Jagannatha Puri. Dont take the Negative side

Non-attachment of material activities can be effected by spiritual activities only and not by material inertia. Material inertia is the negative side of material actions but spiritual activity is not only the negation of material action but also it is the possession of real life. And we must be anxious to search out this eternal life of spiritual existence or the life in Brahman. The life in Brahman is described here as the eternal country where from nobody has got to come back again if anyone i

This will be the tenth year we have been offering daily email transcripts of the Srimad-Bhagavatam lectures during the Mayapur Festival and GBC meetings.

As our regular transcribers are otherwise engaged, we request help from anyone willing and able to help transcribe the classes. What better way to serve the worldwide community of devotees than by facilitating the hearing of Srimad-Bhagavatam from the lips of senior devotees from Sri Mayapur Dham?

If you would like to render this important

Thought Of The Day

A devotee, when he is in troubled condition, he thinks, "My Lord is so kind that He is purifying me. I am suffering from my past misdeeds. So Krsna is so kind that He is purifying me, giving me little suffering. That's all right. Therefore I must be obliged to Him." And he offers more respectful obeisances to the Lord: "My Lord, You are purifying me." If one lives like this, mukti-pade sa daya-bhak, his liberation is guaranteed.

The unnatural interference

  • Meteor shower injures hundreds in Russia.
  • Blizzard hits US, normal life disturbed
  • Tsunami kills thousands
  • Earthquake ravages the city
  • An unknown fever kills people

These are not so uncommon news for us.  Nature can stun us any time.  Weather forecast cannot guarantee if tomorrow it will rain or the day will be sunny.

These phenomenons indicate following:

  1. We are not the controllers of nature.
  2. There is no guarantee to our security.
  3. And the scriptures declaration that this world is duhkhalayam asasvatam, a

Lord Krishna and Hapiness (Equanimity)?

Well, the work you do in regard to meditation and loving devotion brings effects. Even doing it for days brings effects. The question is consistancy and belief in yourself, others and the object of your devotion. It is easy to dismiss realizations as mere flickerings of the brain, as some weird result of concentration, whatever justification there may be. But what about the daily effects, the ones outside japa or kirtan? What about the growing feelings that you get day after day, that Lord
