New Friends by Bhaktimarga Swami

image1.jpeg
I try to make a point of making new friends every day. In fact, I consider it rather a sin to just ‘hang out’ with known people. Although that is important, the day evolves with deeper dimension when new encounters are made.  There's so much to learn while broadening the scope of new relations.

When you are stranded alone on an island, you might have an excuse, but even then, you have the opportunity to make good with the moon, the stars, the sun, the elements, animals and plants. With so man

Personal development expert, Brian Tracy, writes: “Here is one of the greatest questions you will ever ask and answer: ‘What one skill, if I developed and did it in an excellent fashion, would have the greatest positive impact on my career?’”
One should ask the same question about one’s bhakti practice.
Asking this question is vital because, unlike regular career skills that become obsolete, bhakti skills are eternally relevant and potent. By seriously dedicating oneself to any one of the proce

Is the Ramayana relevant today?

By Chaitanya Charan das

Question: Is the Ramayana, comprising as it does stories from ancient times, practically relevant today?

Answer: Yes, it is relevant because the stories, though from an ancient setting, embody timeless values.

From “me” to “we”

One of the primary values that it conveys – selfless sacrifice – is especially relevant in our present times that are characterized by obsessive selfishness. Contemporary culture largely glamorizes the “me” paradigm, which impels people to seek th

On Speaking Strongly in Srila Prabhupada's Service

It may seem that aggressive preaching is disrespectful and hardly the behavior expected of saintly people. But it should be understood that a preacher of Krsna consciousness is not forceful for his own sense gratification. "Aggression for the cause of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu is pure." letter, 30th July, 1975

Once a book distributor asked Srila Prabhupada about maintaining humility, when her engagement required her to be demandingly assertive. "Be
