Perhaps one of the most poignant sufferings in society is the failure of human relationships. Recent government statistics reveal that some fifty percent of marriages are ending in divorce. Every day four thousand children call the charity Childline for help. All around us we can all see so many examples of strained and collapsed relationships, possibly even in our own lives. We so much want to enjoy our relationships, but so often they become instead the cause of our greatest pain.

Krishna Often Surprises Us

2514786908?profile=original

With the devotees from the San Diego temple I was distributing books at a table at Mesa College recently when a person who was apparently a rabbi came over and began looking at the pictures I had on display --
the famous picture of the man with a cow's head about to slaughter a cow with a man's head, along with a reincarnation picture and a meditation picture. As he studied the pictures I thought, "What's going to come
of this? Is he going to tell me how far I am from the truth and make a scene, o

108: The Significance of the Number

It is amazing how much Western science has taught us. Today, for example, kids in grammar school learn that the sun is 93 million miles from the earth and that the speed of light is 186,000 miles per second. Yoga may teach us about our Higher Self, but it can't supply this kind of information about physics or astronomy.

Or can it?

Professor Subhash Kak of Louisiana State University referred to the statement by Sayana, a fourteenth century Indian scholar. In his commentary on a hymn in the Rig Ved

Can Money buy true Happiness ?

Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

Can money buy true Happiness? When the basics are covered, extra money can buy extra food, clothes, houses and whatever else.  However, you can live in only one house at a time, wear one set of clothes at a time, and eat as much as your stomach can hold at a time. Therefore money is useful to buy goods and services and there is nothing wrong with money, per se. It is after all the core need and everybody's entitled to ea

Vegetarianism

On the spiritual path those who are the most inclined to lead a peaceful existence that respects the value of all life often adopt the vegetarian lifestyle. For some people this is a very big step. This is in accordance with the yogic principle of ahimsa, which is to observe nonviolence and abstain from injuring any being in any way. However, many people ask what about the plants that are killed in the process of cooking vegetarian foods. Don’t they suffer? And don't we get reactions for that?

23rd Dec was Gita – Jyanti, the day when Krishna spoke Bhagavad – Gita to Arjuna around 5000 years ago. The sublime message of the Gita was spoken by Krishna for 45 minutes at a place called Jyotisar in Haryana just before the beginning of the war.

The Gita is called Raja Vidya - the king of all knowledge. If all the Vedic literatures are cows then Bhagavad – Gita is the milk of the cow i.e. it is the essence of all the Vedic literatures. Krishna is the milkman, Arjuna is the calf who drinks the

Do enlighten souls see Krishna?

Question to His Grace Sankarshan Das Adhikari: While doing Hare Krishna chanting on japa beads, I feel immersed in the name of Lord Krishna and become oblivious to my surroundings. However I feel incomplete that I am only chanting the name of Krishna but not seeing Him. My question as a very low level soul is, "Do enlightened souls see Krishna?"  Can you please tell me your experience?

Answer: "They see very minute" Hearing with your ears is another form of seeing. And it is more important than

New! Distance Learning From Simple Temple.

Bhakti-Course.jpg

"There is no doubt about it: to distribute books is one most important activity. The temple is not a place for eating & sleeping, but a base from which we send out our soldiers to fight with maya. Fight with maya means to drop thousands and millions of books into the lap of conditioned souls. Just like during war time the bombs are raining from the sky like anything." – August 03, 1973 to Ramesvara.

Pastime from Chaitanya-mangala by Srila Lochan Dasa Thakura

Narada Muni once went to Vaikuntha and served Mother Lakshmi very sincerely.
Srimati Laxmi Devi was very pleased and requested Narada Muni to ask for any boon. Narada Muni replied, "My dear Mother Lakshmi, you must promise that whatever I ask for, you will-grant." Lakshmi Devi vowed that she would gladly fulfill his desire. The great saint revealed his wish: Nar

Value of Vaishnava Association

Value of Vaishnava Association

Once the great sage Narada was intrigued by a doubt. He was sure that Lord Vishnu would clear it for him. He proceeded to the Ocean of Milk and found his Lord reclining on the giant hooded serpent-bed Shankarshana, Hisbeautiful consort, Lakshmi devi beside Him.

Sage Narada made his obeisance to Lord Vishnu and put his question to Him.
"Oh Lord, what is the value of Vaishnava Satsang, the Association ofVaishnava Devotees?"

This taking of prasadam.

This taking of prasadam.

In this lecture (S.B. 1.16.23) dated January 19 th 1974 in Hawai, Srila Prabhupada gives clear informations on this subject matter:

Krsna is very beautiful

Bearded Allen Ginsberg -- popular American "beat" poet and LSD promoter of '60s fame -- was in Sydney for poetry recitals. He arrived at the temple mid-afternoon to see Srila Prabhupada. The devotees explained to him that Prabhupada was resting at his house. He quickly left, promising to return later. Ginsberg, however, never returned.

The blue Kombi van was regularly being used to pick up Srila Prabhupada from his Renny Street house and drive him to the temple for the even

What Are You Doing for Cow Protection?

2514830535?profile=original

By HH Sivarama Swami

Krsi goraksya vanijya. Krsi means ploughing or agriculture and goraksya, cow protection. These are the staples of society, this is what people live on. All living entities subsist on grains. So the ksatriyas may direct and instruct people, the brahmanas may perform their yajnas, but if they don’t eat then giving shelter or instruction is not going to work.

That eating is therefore the most essential aspect of life and this is why the vaisyas and their assistants, the sudras, a

1) Heavy rains remind us of challenges in life. Never ask for a lighter rain. Just pray for a better umbrella. That is attitude.

2) When flood comes, fish eat ants & when flood recedes, ants eat fish. Only time matters. Just hold on, God gives opportunity to everyone!

3) Some people always throw stones in your path. It depends on you what you make with them, Wall or Bridge? Remember you are the architect of your life.

The Four Syllable & Five Syllable Mantras

2514853465?profile=original

Gaura-gopala mantra-mantra composed of the four syllables ra-dha-krs-na.

Gaura Mantra the four syllable mantra is ”gau-ra-an-ga”

Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura explains the Gaura-gopala mantra in his Amrta-pravaha-bhasya. Worshipers of Sri Gaurasundara accept the four syllables gau-ra-an-ga as the Gaura mantra, but pure worshipers of Radha and Krsna accept the four syllables ra-dha krs-na as the Gaura-gopala mantra. However, Vaisnavas consider Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu nondifferent from Radha-Krsna
