It is an arduous journey for a seed to grow into a plant and ultimately into a fruit yielding tree. Left alone in the wild, a seed may not grow as it falls on a rocky ground instead of soil. There may be too little water or too much, not enough sun light, temperature may be extremely hot or cold for it to sprout and grow into a plant. A nursery is essential to provide a controlled environment creating favorable conditions for seeds to grow roots and become plants. Further,

The material world that we live in has been created by the Supreme Lord and his agents. However creation of this world was not the desire of the Supreme Lord. He does not want this material world but actually we do. We, the living entities, wanted this material world because we wanted to be in a place away from Krsna where we could be the ‘Lord’ and the ultimate enjoyer. Krsna described our conditioned state of mind, how we falsely think that we are the enjoyer and the L
Every day during the auspicious Purusottama month, I read the fifteenth chapter of the Bhagavad-gita, “Purusottama-yoga”—“The Yoga of the Supreme Person,” in which the seventh verse is one of the most significant.

Our life depends on air, and when we recognize it as one of the energies of Krsna, it can remind us of Him.
Sweat gathers on my lower back, and my clothes stick to my skin. Then the leaves of nearby trees shiver to announce the coming relief of a breeze. I consider how the air I’m perceiving outside me also moves within me, and I think of how air carries smells, fills our lungs, nourishes our cells, flies our kites and airplanes, and presses with strong but unperceived forc

Srila Prabhupada in the Radha-Damodara Bus (Album with photos)
Vakresvara Pandit das: Prabhus, I have never ever ever experienced fear, anxiety, suffering like that!
I was told that the ride on the Radha Damodar bus was Prabhupada’s long-cherished dream. And because the vehicle that we had just repaired was in such first-class shape, we were informed that our bus would be used to take Srila Prabhupada and that I would be the driver and Mahamuni would be the servant and Sunanda would be the coo
Attentive Japa Brings Quality and Happiness in Our Life.
Candramauli Swami: When we try to chant our japa seriously, with attention, day after day, after day, after day, we will get the taste and begin to lose our desires for material happiness. Fast! It is all in the chanting.
But we don’t have a time for japa. We think we have to do it, and then we can “start our day”. Japa is just a “necessary botheration”. The “real thing” is to “do” things, because then we will get some “results”. “I don’

Can we make our children turn out the way we want?
Srila Prabhupada once said, “If you place a child in good association, he will act properly, and if you place him in bad association, he will act improperly. A child has no independence in that sense.… According to Vedic civilization, as soon as a child is four or five years old, he is sent to a gurukula, where he is disciplined.”
Anyone who has worked with children knows they are vulnerable to their environment. Yet childre

What could be better than reading the story of a seeker who gives up everything to travel the world in search of God? Hearing that person tell the story himself. After three years in the making, Mandala Media has finally released the special collector’s edition of the audiobook for The Journey Home, in which Radhanath Swami reads the entire book.
When you listen to this audiobook you feel as if you are in his private room hearing him recount every detail of his often perilous a
They say there are two kinds of people in this world: those who believe they can make things happen and those who believe things happen to them. Basically it boils down to saying that one group of people are convinced of their control over the outcome of their lives and careers, and pushes ahead while the second group kind of waits for the right opportunity.
According to a blog post published on inc.com, university of Florida psychologist Tim Judge and his colleagues have shown that those who f
Chanting is sacred communication!
(Transcribed by Madhumati Priyasaki Devi Dasi)
Mahatma Prabhu: Chanting is very important, if you strive to upgrade your chanting it will make such a huge difference in your Krishna Consciousness.
QUOTE: “Japa is not a ritual. It is not a mechanical, mindless, robotic process. It is an offering of the heart, a pleading for mercy, a begging to be accepted by the Lord. It is a crying of the soul to be engaged eternally in the Lord’s service. The emotions these m
Hearing and chanting Krishna’s names brings perfection.
Vaisesika Das: I can’t stop thinking about the big kirtans we had at ISV (our temple in San Jose, Ca) on Lord Rama’s appearance day. My mind keeps going back to those kirtans, wanting to relive them.
On that day, the devotees danced and sang together for hours in wild abandon: laughing, jumping, spinning, dancing, smiling and shouting with happiness.
I watched when a couple of devotees who arrived late walked into the big hall while the ki
Chanting the Hare Krishna maha – mantra isn’t a mundane activity but is in fact a means by which we can experience exponential spiritual pleasure.
Chanting connects us to Krishna provided we chant with utmost sincerity and seriousness. One of the most important requirements of chanting is that we should pronounce each syllable of the maha – mantra clearly and loud enough so that we can hear what we chant.
But many a times we the spiritual seekers chant inattentively without bothering if we are
This is the second, highly anticipated, rewised, and extended edition of the Vaisnava Sukta Manjari, also known as the Mantra Book. It comes as a set of two books, silk covered, in a slipcase. This book is a collection of mantras from various Vedic texts and from our Vaisnava literature that are commonly used in rituals like pujas, yajnas and samskaras.
The Hare Krsna mantra is our central mantra. However, as sadhakas, other practices support our devotional progress in addition to chanting the

As the United States of America was established by its founding fathers, Srila Prabhupada founded the International Society for Krnsa Consciousness and therefore he is its Founder-Acharya. His goal was to establish a society by which to bring people of the world to Krsna.
In the beginning days of America the pioneers had to depend upon their own determination, strength and faith, to establish themselves in “the new world”. They saw this land as a place of opportunity wher

From the moment we are born we are knowledge-seekers. We want to know where we can find food, shelter, love, and happiness. We want information to help us avoid pain, suffering, and loss. We spend our lives building on that knowledge, adding information gained by study and experience.
Perhaps in earlier times society was more inclined to seek knowledge of truth. Today it seems we are after happiness, more than truth or no matter what the truth. And of course, the search for the self is generall
