I think it is one thing to join the Krishna consciousness movement, it is one thing to just sort of float on whatever is happening within the Krishna consciousness movement and it’s another thing to actually take control of the situation and have the determination to advance in Krishna consciousness.
As we mentioned before it appears that some people come to Krishna consciousness and they just float in whatever is going on and then there is some type of awakening process a

The process of surrender is meant to be dynamic and continuous. To accept favourable things and reject the unfavourable things, however is not an easy process. Even if we know that ultimately Krsna protects us, it is still not easy to surrender in the moment.

Kadamba Kanana Swami:
Let me read that again and start commenting; “The process of surrender is meant to be dynamic and continuous.”

Well, sometimes it appears that the process of surrender is not so dynamic. Sometimes it seems tha

When I first joined the temple in the early ’70s, our main service was to go out and distribute BTG’s—or Back to Godhead magazines—in the streets of downtown Vancouver and Victoria. The devotees wore thin cotton dhotis and saris (even in cold weather), and carried sticks of incense in hand. Sometimes we traveled east to places like Calgary, Alberta in mid-winter. To stay warm we had to run from person to person in mall parking lots offering people sticks of incense in minus 30

One should feel oneself meek and humble and also has to tolerate. Tolerance without any limits. Krishna will do this to us because that’s the standard. He’ll do it to us. It’s not that He dislikes us for a moment. But He will test our tolerance until the end of our ability to tolerate anything. We think: “After this point I’m gonna go crazy”. And Krishna says “Ok” and will push us a few kilometres beyond that point, to make us see that we have to tolerate everything without

The Jaguar’s Story, a brand new children’s book by Kosa Ely (Kosarupa Dasi) about the plight of Jaguars in the Amazon rainforest, was released on April 21st at the Earth Day Festival in Orlando, Florida.

“If you want to experience the real nectar, then go on padayatra.”

One day I met Akhila Dhara Prabhu, a senior disciple of Srila Prabhupada, who told me boldly, “If you want to experience the real nectar, then go on Padayatra”. So I decided to go, thinking, “If I am not going for ever, then at least I should go for a week.” So, on March 13th I joined the Padayatra India party, then in Bangalore, Karnataka. First I saw the magnificent oxen of the Kankrej breed, and I

Sunday night, Cilegon was hot. The moon is not round yet, dimly lighted lights on both sides of the road stretching approximately 250 meters full of people on both sides. Young-old, male-female. All liked getting out of the corners of the City. At 07.00 PM the music thrashed. All participants gathered behind the stage except the Lord Jagannath, Lord Baladeva, and Subadra Devi sat on the chariot beside the honored guest stage.

Question: What is the highest act we may perform to attract the mercy of Radharani?

To serve Lord Nityananda. Radharani is so exhalted and pure that Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati instructed that only those who are liberated and in the madhurya-rasa can go to Srimati Radharani, while everyone else must go to Lord Nityananda. You can think of it as two counter windows at the ‘Mercy Office’. On Radharani’s counter, there is a sign that reads ‘Liberated souls only!‘ And then you have Lord Nityana

An inconceivable society

2515247744?profile=original

By Kadamba Kanana Swami

We live in a society that is based on passion and ignorance. This is all we know; nothing else. We have become conditioned by this society and continue to remain frustrated and unfulfilled by it. Even when we come into contact with spiritual life, we become convinced by transcendental knowledge to a degree and prepare to take up the process, however, still we find it very difficult to fully enter into the culture of Srimad Bhagavatam. If for instance, we come together wi

Respecting Our Women In Iskcon

2515247653?profile=original

By Kesava Krsna Dasa

For some reason the subject of womanhood and the roles they play within our midst has raised strong feelings, usually centred on celibacy and the potential for victimisation. This shows that women are not really the problem – our inordinate fixation on matters ‘celibate’ is the problem.

On one hand, a section of us wants a ‘purity’ of spiritual existence based on strict traditional chastity roles for our women – though various interpretations of them differ, and on the othe

TOVP Euro Tour Overview

By Darpa-ha Krishna Das

Miracles are not uncommon in the pastimes and seva of the Lord, and certainly the TOVP Euro Tour is a current example of how the Lord reciprocates with His devotees, blesses them and simultaneously fulfills His own purposes, in this case the building of the Temple of the Vedic Planetarium and manifestation of His own prophecy of the adbhuta mandir.

From April 10th – 27th, history was created as Jananivas and Braja Vilas prabhus, led by Lord Nityananda’s Padukas and Lord

Who are we really—
beyond who we settle for
without thinking too deeply
as most just blindly accept
as normal, conventional identities
that we’ve learned from others
and from our educational system
so it must be true, right?

Is it really a fact that
we’re our past sad or happy history?
What about our genes, race, ethnicity,
our skin color, occupation,
economic status, religious
institution, sect, or sanga,
state or region, political party,
conservative or liberal bend,
or our

While the experience that prompted this free verse poem wasn’t planned, it was welcome, and seen as an occasion for reflection. Association with saints is desirable for developing good qualities, and yet being with our peers or people in general can also foster our personal and spiritual growth, because in their company who we are as a person is revealed and we may discover part of the spiritual work we have left to do. Anyone can be our teacher if we have the humility to be op

Kirtan means that we have to listen. Just like in chanting japa, in kirtan there is also inattentive chanting. Inattentive chanting means that we sing something else than what the leader is singing and that is what you are doing. Of course, it is very beautiful what you are singing but it is something else. So let us try again. There are some varieties in the tune, it is not just staying the same all the time which means that you have to really listen each time and not go on automatic pilot. Th

Sometimes when we commit mistakes, we may become embarrassed, irritated or enraged with ourselves. If we become excessively disturbed, that often becomes a second mistake. By fretting or seething, we waste the time and energy that could have been used for rectification. Certainly we need to learn from our mistakes, but learning requires calmness, which is lost when we let ourselves over-react.

To calm ourselves, we can contemplate how Krishna is always in control and ho
