Dear Guru Maharaja,

Please accept my most humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and all glories to your divine self.

During the renovations the manager named Daniel surprised us all.

We hung a huge picture of His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada on the wall where the restaurant area will be. I offered incense often to the picture and prayed silently before the workers would come to start their day’s service.

One morning I found Daniel bowing down in front of Srila Prabhupada’s picture

I came to the end of the day realizing that I hadn't set foot on the pavement other than a walk over the sidewalk to reach the grass in Avondale Park.  There, along with Connor, we spread out a mat for sitting on and chanting to the public.  I can't believe I did everything today that indoors could offer in a monk’s context, but I did not walk.

I did, however, dream of traveling.  Reminisce a bit, would be more accurate.  A couple that I know are contemplating the journey, on wheels, across

Next to my research on the Jaladuta, still ongoing, and the Missing Mohan Tapes, no response, I find myself suddenly involved in another Iskcon piece of heritage. The Radha Krsna Temple Tapes.

These original tapes are basically the master tapes of this historic album, that was produced by George Harrison and engineered by Ken Scott. It released two hit singles The Hare Krsna Mantra and Govinda.

History tells us that the album recordings took place in the famous EMI S

Three In A Row by Bhaktimarga Swami

Gaura, Ananda and I took to the ravine at Brickworks.  Each time I come here I see new developments.  For instance I saw a switchback—a zig-zag hiking trail that wasn't there before.  It was lined with large limestone slabs which I imagine will hold the trail in place, because on any hillside, such as this one, erosion from water can re-shape the hill's form.  New shrubs and trees have also been planted to check erosion and add to the greenness of the place.  In ten years, we will see a forest t

For the first time, the Hungarian edition of the Bhagavad Gita As It Is was presented at the Libri bookshop in Budapest. About 60 guests participated at the program, with many standing around the small stage or listening to Sivarama Swami from the bookracks. The turn up well exceeded the expectations. At the end, the spiritual leader of ISKCON Hungary signed copies with personal notes and recommendations.

The book has been available in translation for many years in

For the last five years I have been meditating on giving Kṛṣṇa consciousness to female inmates. Ever since I took the reins of the prison ministry, back in 2009, ninety percent of all inmates who write us are male.

I tried repeatedly to reach chaplains from female institutions—to obtain their permission to place books in their chapel libraries—but unfortunately, chaplains are very hard to reach and my time is always very limited, so I never went far with this project. Over the years, at diff

The walking encompassed two treks - one by the Rideau River and the second by the Rideau Canal, which run parallel through the university section of Ottawa.  The majority of the time was spent near the War Memorial, and a short stroll from Chateau Laurier, with participants from Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto.  We had the shelter of shady trees, and our presentation was one of "dance, chant and be happy."

Happy we were as crowd pleasers.  Some of us went at it for a full six hours straight,

KOLKATA: A 6-member Iskcon team met Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday evening to draw his attention to the fact that Iskcon founder Srila Prabhupada’s name had been removed from an arterial road in Vrindavan and replaced with that of another spiritual guru.

After Yogi revoked the renaming order, the team tweeted on Wednesday morning: “Extremely grateful to the honorable CM of UP Sri@myyogiadityanath@UPGovt for promptly resolving the road renaming issue in Vrindavan.” The C

Nikhilananda Prabhu is one of the unsung heroes of the Krishna consciousness movement. I had the great privilege of his association in the Middle East in 1978-’79. If I had to describe Nikhilananda in two words, it would be “staunchness personified.” This very serious disciple of Srila Prabhupada began his devotional service at a young age.

Nikhilananda das: After the summer of 1972, during which I had seen Srila Prabhupada in Paris and Amsterdam, I had come to the firm conviction that I wante

Now held in nearly 200 countries around the world, Rathayatra has also reached the island nation of Indonesia. This year, on June 30th, ISKCON devotees celebrated the Lord of the Universe in the capital city, Jakarta, as part of the “Jakarnaval” cultural parade, a major tourist attraction.

I had had a good night's rest at Surinder's home, with the window wide open, and at a comfortable 16 degrees Celsius, or thereabout.  The twelve kilometre walk on the Great Trail, and the dance lessons with demonstrations at the Kirtan Yoga session, made for a good straight six-hour slumber.  This is rare.

Now it is the last day of June, and the community of ISKCON Ottawa is gathered for the weekly Sunday sangha.  There is also a strong spirit of enthusiasm, in anticipation of tomorrow's big

"One cannot solve a problem on the very level of understanding with which it was created." - Albert Einstein

We live in a constantly changing world. The external situations, environments, people, our own body and mind are constantly in flux. The turbulence is all over and it can be quite overwhelming at times. How can we expect to be peaceful in this world of chaos, how can we be tranquil in this world of turbulence is the subject matter of this blog. We can't escape from our present situatio

We go through three sliding doors (vertical bars) and two locked gates to enter the reception area. When we get to the classroom building, we have to ask the guard in the control room to announce the Hare Krishna Class so that all the different areas can get notified. There are often new guards there and it can take a few times before they pronounce the Holy Names properly. This guard then announces to all the guards in all the cell blocks that the Hare Krishna Class is st

It was a distinct and utterly surprised tone of a male voice that projected out from this three-storey residential building.  As audible as could be were the words: "What the hell!"

I was certain that these three words of shock were in reference to myself, as they were delivered just minutes after I began a short trek on "The Great Trail," which actually spans across the whole of Canada. I looked like a pink Arab with my Indian monk's lunghi(lower robe), kurta(Indian shirt) and utariya(shawl)

Since 2016, the ISKCON Ministry for Cow Protection and Agriculture (IMCPA) has been organizing multiple farm conferences every year in four continents. The result has been ISKCON farm staff in each region coming closer together, networking and sharing best practices, and making increased progress towards Srila Prabhupada’s simple living and high thinking vision.

2019 marks the 50t hanniversary of cow protection in ISKCON, so it’s an excellent time to look at and celebrate

Sweet Walk by Bhaktimarga Swami

William Wordsworth was one of those poets with a skill, who also liked to walk. One day, at noon, he ambled along a narrow lane thinking of his past.  I came upon his poem some hours after I took a five kilometre walk with Godbrother Gaura.  It's called, "Sweet Was the Walk."

Sweet was the walk along the narrow lane
At noon, the bank and hedge-rows all the way
Shagged with wild pale green tufts of fragrant hay,
Caught by the hawthorns from the loaded wain,9
Which Age with many a slow stoop s

A couple from Saudi Arabia and their baby in a stroller sat down next to us in the park. One of our chanting party members handed them a card promoting the soon-to-arrive "Chariot Fest" which is also called "Festival of India" and this compelled them to join us. They have only been in Canada for nine months and are loving it.  They were curious.

"But you're not from India?"

I looked around and noted all of us pale-faced persons.  Except for Ananda on the djembe, our group was all white, in
