Do We Complain Too Much?

By Kesava Krsna dasa – GRS

Here we are, entombed within these bodies as animated walking talking transformations of food, shaped and destined according to our will, getting whipped by our own past deviations by natural justice, yet feel raw injustice enough to complain about our own undoing. SB.1.7.5 – Due to this eternal energy, the living entity, although transcendental to the three modes of material nature, thinks of himself as a material product and thus undergoes the reactions of material

A Small Strip of Spain

2515253323?profile=original
By Bhaktimarga Swami

Alberto, an Italian-born devotee of Krishna, was right there at the Madrid Airport waiting to drive me for a one-hour stretch to the peaceful Spanish countryside at the retreat farm of Vrajamandala.  Residents number thirty.  There are six children of school age, five cows, one ox and a recently born, five-day-old bull, Baladeva.

The river, Tajuña, runs through the 350 acre property.  It was irresistible to walk from the town of Guadalajara (not the big city) of modest

Meeting with Book Distributors

2515253372?profile=original

By Giriraj Swami

we were blessed with the association of seven stalwart brahmachari book distributors who are following the Warped music tour. They arrived the night before, attended our entire morning program, and then, after breakfast, we discussed various aspects of the practice and preaching of Krishna consciousness. These devotees are extending Srila Prabhupada and Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s mercy to many, many fortunate fallen souls.

Hare Krishna.

The Invasion by Bhaktimarga Swami

It is one of those days where I cannot sulk, but be a trifle sad about not walking.  The air travel restricts the possibility.  I flew in from Calgary this morning.  By 3:15 a.m., I was off to the airport for a flight to Madrid to meet up with the Cuban connection, that is those who were or are affiliated with our mission there.

In the moments of waiting for Air Canada Flight 863 to call for passengers to get ready for boarding, I contemplated those appalling photos I had viewed from a recent

In Glorification of Yamaraja Prabhu

By Krishna-kripa Das

Yamaraja Dasa, a disciple of Srila Prabhupada who served BTG for decades and left his body a few days back, was a great soul. I wrote a letter thanking him for how he benefited me and our ISKCON society in general. Shri-Ram Poddar gave the letter to Punya Kirti Prabhu, who read it to Yamaraja the day before he left. Punya Kirti said upon hearing it, Yamaraja Prabhu smiled. I shared the letter with my Facebook friends to glorify him, and because many people liked it, I decid

Wait Until I Am Dead

2515037008?profile=original

By Kavicandra Swami

Whenever a devotee leaves his or her body, we hear so much praise of them. Everyone becomes happy to be absorbed glorifying a devotee. It seems that we do not do enough of praising devotees while they are with us. Of course a devotee should not be hankering to be praised. St. Francis of Assisi would tell those who started to praise him, “Wait until I am dead, I could fall down at any time”. Of course that just makes him more worthy of praise.

“Offering all respect to others,

Formerly, people were so sharp in memory that once having heard from the spiritual master, they will remember. . . it is called sruti... Simply by hearing, they will understand everything. They will never forget... Unless you memorize all the conclusions of Srimad Bhagavatam, Bhagavad-gita, you cannot speak. - CC Adi 16.44 Purport. Looking for the Supreme God

By Manali D. Bijlani

“Whom are we worshiping in the temple? This query of mine was unanswered till I reached ISKCON.”

I was born and brought up in a Hindu family in Delhi, and we used to go to various temples and offer prayers before the gods. Two questions, however, always tickled my mind: Why do we worship so many gods, and who is the real God? As I never got answers to my questions, I considered all the gods equal, and in my teenage years all religions and faiths became one for me. Be it Hin

Important Kirtan Points

2515253318?profile=original

Hare Krishna, everyone! I’m BB Govinda Swami and I’m visiting Bhaktivedanta Manor and I was requested to give a brief interview for Kirtan Space. I was requested to speak on important points, points that I feel are important about kirtan.
Naturally I feel that since it’s the process of Mantra meditation, or meditation upon Krishna, we should really be focused when we are participating in kirtan. Whether one is leading the kirtan, whether one is playing the karatals, whether one is playing the m

Transcendental Cruise by Ramai Swami

2515253431?profile=original

Disciples of Vedavyasapriya Maharaja organised a boat cruise for the devotees. I was also invited and more the 170 devotees booked on the boat named “The Lady” which left from Southport Marina on the Gold Coast.

The cruise, which lasted four hours, went up and down an inlet between Stradbroke Island and the mainland. The whole time was spent in kirtana, readings and wonderful prasadam prepared by Maharaja’s disciples.

Gaurachandra and Vani Priya are my usual co-walkers in the North East of Calgary.  With much rainfall in recent days, the mosquitoes can form clouds.  Well, they did that for us while we were in our stride. The presence of magpies was also so evident.  You wonder if while in flight they couldn’t just keep their beaks open and swallow a few mosquitoes in the process?

Nanda Gopal had invited me over for brunch.  “It will just be some steamed veggies,” was the promise. It was simply a well-mean

What is the matter with the world

By A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

On the 16th of February 1957 a meeting was held at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan to discuss the above subject matter. Distinguished gentlemen from different categories spoke on the subject, but practically nobody could give us a definite direction as to what actually the matter was that was troubling the whole situation. This feeling of pinching in the existence of our life is a good sign for progress. It is an urge for enquiry what is the wrong in the world

Vrajanatha – What is the final destination of those who worship Sri Gauranga?

Raghunatha dasa Babaji – “Sri Krishna and Sri Gauranga are non-different in terms of tattva; they are the same Absolute Truth and both are the fountainheads of madhura-rasa, nectarean, honey-like mellows. However, there are two ways in which madhura-rasa manifests: madhurya, transcendental conjugal sweetness; and audarya, transcendental magnanimity. When madhurya is pre-eminent, Sri Krishna is manifest, and when auda
