Q: If we must be careful of bad association, how can we be merciful and friendly with all kinds of people? You see that is why preachers take a certain amount of risk to preach Krishna consciousness, and that is why they are so dear to the Lord because they are taking that risk. At the same time, by being merciful and friendly with all kinds of people to preach to them Krishna consciousness we try to give them our association. We can tell them about

The modes of material nature
In modern physics - classical, quantum mechanistic, and holistic - one of the most frequently used terms is “natural laws.”Since Einstein, scientists seek a Grand Unified Theory that will condense all “natural laws” to a universal formula that explains both matter and consciousness.Interestingly enough, in Sanskrit we have a hard time finding a corresponding word for the term “natural law.” Words like hetu (in Bhagavad-gita 9.10), which means “a causing principle,” di

One of the five types of ignorance which are being destroyed by the Sankirtana movement : is to think there is more than the Absolute Truth or to think there is anything more than chanting Hare Krishna - and therefore we look for other things, other than chanting to satisfy us to give us inspiration and so on. So we fall prey to this, we do! We do feel the need for other things, we do other things. It was a nice sunny day, I had the window seat on the plane and I was looking out of the window and

When we finally go to the spiritual world, it’s transcendental, and then you have different levels of the spiritual world, where in the Vaikunta planets the devotees of the Lord worship Lord Narayana with awe and reverence and with great pomp, majesty and very formally. Then you go to Ayodhya where Sita, Rama, Lakshmana and Hanuman are there, where Sita-Rama are being worshipped. It is a little less formal, because Rama is playing the part of a king but is more approachable than Lord Narayana. The

Realizing that the Lord has left home, the devotees were shocked and feel swooning to the ground. Overcome with grief, they wailed loudly in despair and pain. They held each other for comfort and babbled as if in delirium, “O Gopinatha, why did this terrible night have to end?” “How will I live without seeing His moonlike face?” “What meaning is there to this sinful life?” “Why has the sky not come crashing down without prior warning?” They rolled on the ground weeping and lamenting, unable to b

Hare krishna...the 2nd part...thank you...The devotees remained late into the night and left when the Lord was about to take His meal. The Lord saw everyone off and sat down to eat. He relished His mother’s cooking, washed His mouth, hands and feet and retired for the night to His quarters. The Supreme Lord called upon His mystic sleep, *yoga-nidra*, while Srila Haridasa and Srila Gadadhara lay down to rest close by. Sachimata knew the Lord was about to leave at early dawn, so she could not slee

J.A.P.A - Just Accept Prabhupada’s Authority!By Vishoka dasaPolitically Correct HandbasketsThere’s a streetcar named desire, and there’s a chariot drawn by mules called “second guessing” and so there are various handbaskets and conveyances, which take one merrily down to Patalaloka, all the while thinking one is politically correct.Srila Prabhupada told us of the story of the cobbler and the Brahmin and Narada Muni. Narada often went to see Lord Narayana and one day the Brahmin requested him to

I worship Govinda [Krishna], the primeval Lord, who is adept at playing on His flute, whose blooming eyes are like lotus petals, whose head is bedecked with a peacock’s feather, whose figure of beauty is tinged with the hue of blue clouds, and whose unique loveliness is charming millions of Cupids.I worship Govinda. the primeval Lord, round whose neck is swinging a garland of jeweled ornaments, who is always reveling in pastimes of love. whose graceful, threefold- bending form of Syamasundara is

Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was born in Mayarpur in the town of Nadia, just after sunset on the evening of the 23rd Falgun, 1407 Advent of Sakabda answering to the 18th Februrary, 1486 of the Christian era. The moon was eclipsed at the time of His birth and people of Nadia were then engaged, as usual on such occasions, in bathing in the Bhagirathi with loud cheers of Haribol. His father Jagannath Misra was a poor Brahmin of the Vedic order, and His mother Sachi Devi was a model good woman, both descend

Because of lack of transcendental knowledge, one is thinking, “Oh because of Krishna Consciousness, I will give up some happiness, like going to the movies at night.” Some kind of attachment is there. There is a story about Sanatana Goswami’s servant. He asked Sanatana Goswami, “There is a party going on in the forest…there is a big festival. Could I go and participate?”Sanatana Goswami said, “Festival?…in the middle of the night???…I don’t think you should go there.”“No, no, no, they are having

Because of some unimaginable good fortune, I got a service of cleaning Sri Sri Radha-Madhava’s dressing room. The room is actually very clean plus all the windows are closed all the time. Everyone entering into the room is also very clean. You have to take a bath and wear freshly washed clothes before you enter this room. However, when I am sweeping the floor, I can find some dust, flower petals and grains of sand every day. Therefore, I am wondering where the dirt comes from. Then I found out t

In the evening, sitting on a little bench out in the courtyard, Swamiji tells us that if he could just make one person Krishna conscious, he would consider his mission successful."Now more people are coming to the kirtans because we are getting some notice in the papers," he says. "But because I do not lie to them and tell them they can be Krishna conscious while having sense gratification, they go away. What am I to do? Change Krishna’s message to suit Americans? That cannot be done. It is not

Hare Krsna..This is what i have realized. Thanks to devotees.....But still trying to get convinced about those statements.I thought of sharing it. It may seem too basic....Please correct it if i am wrong.During practice of Krsna consciousness, one should get convinced about following thoughts:1) First, that all the material endeavors for happiness leads to dissatisfaction of heart. I am not satisfied by any bodily pleasure and comforts.2) I am not body. I am an eternal spirit soul.3) I am eterna

The transcendental vibration established by the chanting of HARE KRISHNA HARE KRISHNA KRISHNA KRISHNA, HARE HARE, HARE RAMA, HARE RAMA, RAMA RAMA, HARE HARE is the sublime method for reviving our transcendental consciousness. As living spiritual souls, we are all originally Krishna Conscious entities, but due to our association with matter—since time immemorial—our consciousness is now adulterated by the material atmosphere. The material atmosphere, in which we are now living, is called Maya, or
