In the Caitanya-caritamrta in the chapter called the bheda kirtans we see a description of how Lord Caitanya divided the devotees into various kirtan groups. There were four kirtan groups each having twomrdanga players, and eight kartal players, That's sixteen kartala players and six lead singers, simultaneously singing the lead with six lead responders simultaneously responding.

a devotee take suffering ?

When there is suffering given by Krishna, a devotee does not take seriously suffering. A devotee thinks, “It is thefavour of Krishna that He has put me into suffering.” They never see suffering as suffering. It is favour of Krishna. That is devotee’s vision. Why should we change the quality of engagement of our mind ?

The mind is not to be killed. Mind or desire cannot be stopped, but to develop a desire to function for spiritual realization, the quality of engagement by the mind has to be changed. The mind is the pivot of the active sense organs, and as such if the quality of thinking, feeling and willing is changed, naturally the quality of actions by the instrumental senses will also change.
