National Seva Day
On Sunday 21st November hundreds of volunteers from the Bhaktivedana Manor community came together for National Seva Day (Service – Good deeds for others). In partnership with Hertsmere Borough Council and Hertsmere Forum of Faiths, religious communities worked together to serve the local community.
The inspiration came from Mitzvah Day, a Jewish led initiative to volunteer their time to good causes. Some 5,000 faith volunteers from 50 different Hindu organisations across the UK

The chanting of Hare Krishna is not just done by the neophyte in the process of “just hear.” It is done by Srimati Radharani Herself in Her lila with Krishna. She is eternally fixed in hearing Krishna’s name. So the holy name is part of Krishna-lila.

As we were chanting, I looked at the picture of Srila Prabhupada on thewall, painted from a photograph of him from 1966, and I thought of how hecame to the Western world to give us the holy name. He did so on the orderof his spiritual master, with full faith in the holy name, that if peoplelike us would just chant the holy name everything else would follow.

The below article appeared in Times of India paper a couple days ago,and a Prabhupananuga website--check it out and keep in mind the last email I sent out regarding why, and how Prabhupada teaches us to learn simple living as a daily way of life.
