Kirtaniya sada hari – that is the message of Srila Prabhupada. Harinama sankirtana, akhanda-kirtana. Did lots of kirtana today.

Nitya-Lila Pravista Om Sri Srimad Pujyapada Aindra Das Maharaj Ki Jai!

Nitya-lila pravista, ratre-lila, nisha lila, 10.36 in the evening to 3.36 in the morning is called ratri-kala. You have heard of ratri? Night time. ratri-lila, nisha, nisha means night, nisha lila.

Aindra completed his quota of japa, 2 lacs of Harinama, maybe more yesterday, I don’t know, but everyday he was doing 2 lacs, 128 rounds a day. One-hundred-twenty- eight mala. Samajhta hai? How many are you doing? Hello? You sure? I hope so.

As Srila Prabhupada said 16 rounds a day on the beads as a min-i-mum, minimum 16. So Aindra would do not the minimum but the maximum.

With all his other services, he was able to serve Deities and preach to his devotees and maintain the 24 hours kirtana party plus chant 128 rounds everyday as his niyama. Aindra would not eat anything or drink any water everyday until he finished his 128 rounds. When you would attend Aindra's evening kirtanas in the temple from 6.30 evening to 7 or so, is that right? And he is chanting the pure, suddha nama, prema nama, braja prema nama, gopika prema nama, at that point, you are listening to him chant, he was very, very thirsty. Full of Radha Krsna Trsna, t-r-s-n-a, trsna means thirst.

He was not thirsty because he hadn’t drank any water since 2 a.m. when he woke up. He wasn’t thirsty because he had a big chappan bhoga lunch and an hour later, your stomach is on fire so you have to drink some water. He wasn’t thirsty because of a hot belly, or it was a hot day

He was thirsty to taste the nectar of Krsna's holy name, nama-amrta, nama-amrta-trsna. Very, very thirsty, like a cataki bird, or a cataka bird. He comes out in the monsoon season, he flies in the sky chasing the megha, the rain cloud, “Oh, give me water. Give me water!” The cataka or the cataki bird only drinks water from the rain cloud, he won't take any water from the earth, from the lake, from the river, from the bird feeder, from anywhere, he won't take any water, the cataka, or his wife, the cataki.

And sometimes when he is chasing the cloud and saying, “Oh please, open up, give me some life supporting, life sustaining and life maintaining drops of water!” Rain drops. Then what does the cloud do?

Sometimes the cloud bursts forward and it rains, a torrential downpour and the cataki bird gets so much water to drink. And other times, when the cataki bird is begging, “Oh Megha, pani dedo, pani dedo! O Megharaj! O Megha!”

Megha, no? Clouds? Megha?

O Megha, Pani dedo! Baarish dedo! Give me rain! Give me pani! I am thirsty! Pani pilao.” And what does the rain cloud do? Sometimes it doesn’t give any pani.

It gives a vajra. You know what a vajra is? Thunder bolt, lightning bolt. How do you say it in hindi? Oh bijli. Bijli means electricity, lightning bolt means vajra no? Vajradanti? Lightning bolt teeth? It's an herb actually, vajradanti.

Anyway, everyone knows, lightning bolt, thunder bolt. Ksssh, If the lightning bolt hits a huge tree, that’s it, burns it up. So sometimes the cataki bird is so thirsty and begging, water, water, water, he doesn’t get any water. Instead of water he gets burned alive. He gets burned up, he gets hit by the lightning bolt and then, khatam ho gaya. Marana prapti.

So this is the devotee and when he is approaching the holy name of Krsna. The devotee is the cataki bird, the bhakta is the cataki bird, the cataka and the holy name is that megha, that nama-meghamrta.

The holy name of Krsna is a cloud, a rain cloud, full of nectar, full of mercy, krpa, vairagya and vigyan and bhava and prema, all these attributes and qualities are in this cloud of the holy name, this nectarine holy name, namamrta. But sometimes when the devotee is approaching the holy name, oh please give me nectar, please give me water, I am very, very thirsty. I am very, very thirsty. Then the holy name gives a thunderbolt. Oh! And gives separation.

The thunderbolt, the vajra, the bijli, is viraha, separation. Oh Name, I am coming to You, I am thirsty, nama-trsna. Please slake my thirst, satisfy my thirst, and holy name says, No. Chant more. More, more. I am going to throw thunderbolts at you.

Oh! Aw! Aw! Stop stop! Hare Krsna Hare Krsna!

The pain of separation from the holy name of Krsna , kali kalera nama-rupa krsna-avatara, sarva jagat nisthara.

In the age of Kali, the Radha Krsna Yugal, the prema-svarupa, the premalingita, Nikunjbiharani Radha and Nikunjbihari Krsna, Radha Madhava kunja bihari.

Nikunjabihari Syamasundara ki Jai! \
Nikunjabiharani Radhika ki Jai!

This Yugal, Radha-Gopinath, Radha-Syamasundara, They are inside the holy name, with all of Their loving embrace, They are waiting to embrace the cataki bhakta, the cataka.

But sometimes we approach Them, “Oh, yes, Your embrace…” and then, No! ksssh! ah! Ah! The thunderbolts, the lightning bolts come on our head. And we say, “Oh this chanting is dry, there is no rasa here, there is no nectar, I can’t fix my mind, there is no nectar here. I am only getting thunderbolts of distraction, thunderbolts of desire, I am not getting that rain, I am so thirsty, I am not getting my thirst satisfied by the nourishing life giving jala-jivana, those drops of water from the rain cloud are not nourishing my thirsty heart. My heart is thirsty for the love of God.

My heart is thirsty for love Divine, where can I find it? Here in this cloud of the holy name, madhurya kadambini, nama-madhurya-kadambini, the downpour, the monsoon shower, the sweet nectar of the holy name.

So Aindra would sit down and chant the holy name in the evening time, with this kind of thirst, nama-trsna, Radha-Govinda Yugala nama-trsna.

Not taking any water all day, not taking any food. Only food is nama, nama-khana or whatever. Nama-food, nama-khana, nama-pana, khana means food and pana means water. Madhu-pana, drink. So nama-khana, nama-pana, you follow?

So he was only taking the water or drinking the holy name, that’s his water and his food-stuffs is the holy name. And then when you would sit down in Aindra's kirtana in the evening time, then he creates so much thirst. Everyone becomes thirsty.

So now he finishes his kirtana, he goes in the evening, and now he is entering the, ratri-lila, nisha lila. It's 10.48 in the evening and Radha and Krsna have come to the rasa-sthali.

And it's a very cool evening. It's winter time, Sarada Purnima. Sometimes it becomes very cool in the evening, thanda, thanda raat, very cool evening, so when Radha and Krsna arrive at the rasa-sthali They feel some hunger. They want to eat something.

So when Aindra starts cooking, at this time, he starts cooking to make an offering to Radha and Krsna during Nisha-lila, during rasa-lila, this is his daily meditation and his practice.

And after… first he does the harinama, then he comes and does the puja and then he cooks the offering, and then he makes the bhoga offering to Radha and Krsna at about 11.30 or 12 o’clock every night. And this is the time when Radha and Krsna are in seva kunja, seva kunja or Nidhiban and They are taking a break from the rasa dance to have something to eat. And he is cooking to offer it to them.

So what is he meditating on? Is he meditating on the food? Is he meditating on, Boy, I am really hungry, I haven’t eaten since 2 a.m. and now it's 11.30 p.m. He is meditating on rasa lila smaran, rasa lila dhyanam, in his siddha svarupa, his manjari svarupa,

I am so and so manjari. Everything was revealed to him. Srila Prabhupada revealed his manjari svarupa, by doing nama bhajan and sadhu seva, and studied, sastra-srvyaya tapasya, bhakti bhajan, sringara-seva, dressing Radha-Syamasundara.

And Srila Prabhupada was pleased, Krsna was pleased. So he got everything. So now in this siddha svarupa, he is cooking, Aindra gopi, Aindra manjari is cooking, and he is meditating, oh I am going to make this beautiful, wonderful offering to Radha-Syama.

And tomorrow is Saturday, and on Saturday I dress Syamasundara, and on Sunday, I dress Syamasundara. This is Aindra's service every Saturday and Sunday. Usually he dresses Syama and someone else dresses Radharani. And there are reasons for that.

So he is cooking and he is thinking, oh tomorrow I will dress them like this, I will put this piece on the turban, I will put the mala like this and I will tie His kamarabandha, the kamarabandha is the piece of cloth around the waist, I will tie the kamarabandha with these kinds of knots like this.

And there are so many people coming now and it's Saturday, and their thirst… everyone’s thirst to see beautiful.

What does everyone want in this world? Everyone wants beauty and sweetness. Thats it. However and wherever and from whomever and whatever one can extract, or find these 2 commodities, they will run there.

Where can I find beauty and sweetness? Beauty is perceived by the eyes, generally, physical beauty. So Krsna, Radha-Syamasundara are the most beautiful in Vrndavana, and Aindra has sringara-siddhi, Thakurji- sringara-siddhi.

He has perfection in decoration Thakurji. Because he has learnt the art of entering into the heart. Aindra has learnt the art of entering into the heart of the beloved of Krsna, known as Srimati Radhika.

Radharani ki Jai!

So if one enters the heart of Srimati Radhika, then he or she will know exactly how to dress Syamasundara. Because if Radharani dresses Syamasundara, She is going to ornament and decorate Syamasundara with all Her bhavas. It's called bhavalankara. Alankara means ornamentation. All the decorations – they are not turbans, they are not garlands, they are not turban-pieces. They are bhavalankara of Srimati Radharani. We see something from one viewpoint but something else maybe there.

Reality is like this. There are many levels to reality, there are many ways to perceive things, do you agree? Atmanam manyate jagat. This universe, jagat, one was mana, manyate means he thinks about it, he considers it, he looks at it, he has perspective about this universe according to the position of his atma.

Where is his atma – mind, where is his atma – soul, where is his atma – body? And that’s how he will see the universe. Whatever this message is you can take it and do whatever you want. Some message, some aparadha, someone gave me some piece of paper, I don’t know what it's about, I am not going to look at it. He knows.

So being inside the heart of Radharani when Aindra Prabhu, Srila Pujapada Aindra Prabhu, when he would dress Syamasundara and everyone saw, they became so satisfied, all of their… everyone’s thirst, trsna, saundarya trsna, everyone’s thirst for beauty became satisfied then and there. Right there, at that moment at that place in Sridhama Vrndavana ki Jai!

When they took sringara-darsana at 7.15 on Saturday morning, in the temple of Krsna-Balarama Mandir, established by Srila Prabhupada, and when the curtains open and everyone sees Radha Syamasundara, what do they say? Ah! Have you ever been there? I have lived there. People say, “Ah! Ah! Wah waah!”

It's like, brahmacaris, when these ladies walk in the temple, they say, Ah! Right? Some pretty lady walks in the temple, all, you know, the brahmacaris say, Aah!

So I have heard people standing here and this total stranger, they are people from Bombay, anywhere, the curtains open and people go, “Ahh! Ahh! Waah waah!” Do you understand?

This is an exclamation of camatkara! Camatkara darsana. Adbhuta Camatkara, vismaya, bewildering, amazing, enchanting, captivating. Yes?

What am I beholding? What are my eyes focusing on? What am I perceiving? And moreover, what am I feeling when I see tribhanga lalitam niyata prakasam God. I am seeing God, dressed by His most beloved devotee, Radharani. This is the darsana I am seeing. So Aindra was observed on this meditation, how to dress his priya Thakura Syama? And his priya Thakurani Radha?

And that’s on one level of his meditation. Tomorrow, but then there is now, all the rasa is going on and I am going to make these things and run down to Nidhiban and give it to Them, he is already there in his spurti and in the middle of that offering Radharani said, “Come with Me.”

These people don’t understand you. And Radharani came into his room and took Aindra by the hand and said, “Come. Bring your offering with you. You and I will both go into the nikunja and offer it directly to Syamasundara”

Syamasundara ki jai!

This is how he left the world, at 10.48 last night. Everything about a pure devotee is special, his janma, his avirabhava and his tirobhava, his appearance and his disappearance. He is always manifest, prakata, his prakata-prabhava, the influence, his bhakti prabhava is nitya prakata. Suddha vaisnava bhakti prabhava nitya prakata. Something like this, got the idea?

The sudha vaisnava, his bhakti prabhava is nitya prakata. Right? I don’t know the verbs and stuff. The idea is the pure devotion and the influence of the pure love and pure devotion of the sudha bhakta is eternal, it goes on. It manifests eternally. Nitya prakata.

Aindra is here very much, and especially when Harinama sankirtana is performed he is here, telling everyone, Harinama sankirtana is the yuga dharma. If you are not doing the yuga dharma you are in maya. All this manager management, eating, sleeping, managing and defending. What is this – all this eating, sleeping, managing and defending? Get out, take the kartala and mrdanga, get on the street and do Harinama sankirtana! It's the only way.

Have you ever heard Aindra? Something like that? Only a hundred times more convincing because he is really a siddha-nama. I am just a fake, I am just a fake, Pundarak. You know the fake Visnu with the 4 arms? Fake Dwarkadisa.

But this was his message and this will always be his message and this is always the message of all pure devotees and Mahaprabhu and every one in the Gaudiya Sampradaya. Nama karo! Nama karo! Nama karo!

There is no other message. Take the holy name. Chant. So he is there, we are here.

So it's glorious and it's a source of great pain. Literally. Wait a minute Aindra, what about me? We used to joke sometimes. Because Aindra and I had some friendship although people don’t see us together very much because I am in my prabhu-datta desa and he is in his prabhu-datta desa.

Mostly, everyone is in their prabhu-datta desa, they are Mahaprabhu, they are Govinda Prabhu, they are guru-prabhu, has given them some place, seva vesa. So my place is not the mandira in Vrndavana, it's down the road a little bit. So we don’t meet much. But we used to meet all the time. I lived with Radha-Govinda Maharaj in Bhubaneswar when I was in the brahmacari asrama and he was right down around the corner.

So 1987-88-89, all the time. But now it's like viraha, in separation. We used to meet and he was collecting these different saligrama silas that he was worshipping. Now he has so many… everybody. He has got everybody there! All the saligramas. And one time he got a very beautiful saligrama sila and at the bottom were two white hoof prints. It was a black sila and inset were hoof-prints of a calf, a vatsa-carana-cinha. The feet, they come in little, 2 signs, these are the vegetarian animals don’t have claws. These are the symptoms – the animals with claws are non-vegetarian. The animals with these kind of little feet, like goats, they don’t have claws. They are vegetarian like cows. They have little hoofs, like horse hoof. It's called hoof.

So it says in sastra that anyone who has – this is called a Gopala sila. Like Krsna Gopala in Vrndavan, if anyone worships the Gopala sila, or he keeps it in his possession, he is guaranteed to go back to Golaka Vrndavana.

So I said Aindra you have a lot of insurance going on here. You are chanting suddha naam, you are living in vraja dhama and you are serving a suddha vaisnava and you are absorbed in gopi bhava and you are just speaking about Radha and Krsna day and night, it seems like you are going back to Godhead. He said “I don’t know but I have this sila anyway”. I said listen, I want that sila also. I said listen we have to make a contract, if you go before me then you give me that sila so I have some hope because he has the sila I don’t have, so he said Ok it’s a deal.

Now I don’t know what will happen, who will take what, I am not going to run there and tell the story but I am just saying his intimate followers and worshipers they will start doing puja with all the silas and that’s their right. And we had this exchange and now Aindra prabhu you have left, now what is going to happen to me? I don’t have that sila. So I have to take shelter of his instructions, always chant the holy name, there is no other way, no other way, no other way. Harinaam Harinaam Harinaam eva kevalam kalo nasty eva, nasty eva nasty eva gatir anyatha. Gatir anyatha, there is no other way to go to param gati braja dhama. There is no other way to go to kunja lila, Radha Madhava Kunjabihari pravesa, kunja pravesa, lila pravesa, the only way, na anytha, there is no other way but naam.

Even I have so many friends and associates and it also can be done, and it also has a tradition and is somewhat bonafide also to go to guru and get siddha pranali. It is told, not by all the acaryas but it is mentioned by Bhaktivinoda Thakura, it is mentioned by Dhyanchandra Goswami and it is mentioned by Vrndavana Chakravarti who is some famous commentator on Bhagavatam. Vrndavana Chakravarti not Viswanatha Cakravarti Thakur. But if you look closely at the writings and this is what I discussed with people that have siddha pranali. I have discussed this with my friends that have taken siddha pranali, they say aside from these three you will not find in the writings of the foundational acaryas for Gaudiya Vaisnavism. Because Bhaktivinoda Thakura is a mahajan for us, he is like an acarya, he is everything, like Rupa Goswami, Bhaktivinoda Thakura for us.

And Vrndavana Chakravarti whoever he is I don’t know and Dhyanchandra Goswami is also very much unkown person but he is coming in line of Gopal guru, not a very major sampradaya. The sampradaya of Gopal guru is very small. Gadhadhara sampradaya, Nityananda sampradaya, Advaita sampradaya, these are the big sampradayas and paramparas of Gaudiya vaisnavism. And when we say foundational acaryas, this means the six goswamis, they are the acaryas for all Gaudiya vaisnavas. Do you agree. Especially Srila Jiva Goswami because Caitanya Mahaprabhu invested all the potency in Rupa Goswami then Rupa Goswami gave his potency to Jiva Goswami.

So these are the foundations, means samsthapak. ISCKON samsthapak acarya Srila Prabhupada ki jai! Samsthapak, the beginner, the one who started it, who founded it, the founder acarya. The founder acaryas and the philosophers and the siddhantists of Gaudiya vaisnavism, they are the six goswamis. Everyone accepts, they are Advaitacarya, they are Gadhadhara pandit, everyone accepts, they are nityananda, everyone accepts, they are Vrndavanadasa Thakur, everyone accepts, they are Krsnadasa Kaviraja Goswami, everyone accepts. Every single Gaudiya vaisnava, any one disagree, we also accept.

Now all of these foundational acaryas have not described anywhere, siddha pranali. Going to a guru and getting ekadasa bhava, this is your name, this is your complexion, this is the kind of dress you have, this is your seva, this is your bhava. It has become a tradition, it is being done, Bhaktivinoda Thakura wrote about it, he took it from Bipin Bihari Goswami, his diksha guru. But our Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur, his son, our param guru and your parat param guru. You have guru then param guru then parat param guru, he wanted to present a traditional system based on naam Bhajan – adho shraddha sadhu sanga bhajan kriya anartha nivrtti tatha nistha, like this, ruci, asakti, bhava, prema. This naam Bhajan, thakurji seva, vaisnava seva, guru seva; devotional service and naam Bhajan will bring one to the level of asakti. And at the level of asakti and one understands that I am keenly and strongly interested in loving and serving Radha and Krsna or Rama or whomever, like this.

Then one modifies and specifies and focuses his Bhajan according to that sthayi bhava which is a real thing, a real position of understanding and a real position of attainment and then he goes deeper and deeper into his Bhajan at the level of bhava, even at a very beginning level of bhava and then he begins to see, ah this is my svarupa. This is our system, we are propogating this, we believe in this. And devotees like Aindra, they have followed this system faithfully. Full faith in Harinaam sankirtan, full faith in guru – yasya deve para bhaktir yatha-deve tatha gurau tasyaite kathita hy arthah prakasante. Anybody has half a brain, if you have half a brain, means you are a mahatma otherwise you are a duratma, you are stupid. You have mahatma and duratma. You have sujana and durjana. Good guy and a bad guy.

So similar if one has some intelligence then he will believe and he will understand and realize that everything will be prakash. Siddhanta prakash, tattva prakash, thakurji prakash, guru swarupa prakash. What is the nitya swarupa of my guru? Prakash. Mera siddha swarupa kya hai? What is my siddha swarupa? Prakash. Prakash means manifested, illuminated, shown, described, revealed, told, if one has faith in guru and sastra.

Aindra is such a person, he is sraddhavan. Sraddhavan jana he, Bhaktivinoda Thakura is calling in the market place, he is going to the naamhatta, he is going to the market place, hello, hi, anyone listening? Anybody have faith out there? Sraddhavan, who possess faith, sraddha, vishwas. O ya I have some faith, I have some sraddha. But do you have sudridha viswas? Sudridha – sraddha reinforced by saranagati, sraddha reinforced by bhakti. Devotion surrender mixing together, is that imbued and that’s mixed in your sraddha? Then otherwise you will have komal sraddha, very soft pliable weak faith. Well, I don’t think it is possible, I don’t think the holy name can do that, or may be for you but not for me, my guru is like this, like that.

Guru is only one, acaryam mam vijaniyan navamanyeta karhicit na martya-buddhyasuyeta sarva-deva-mayo guruh, there is nowhere in sastra it says kanistha guru, madhyam guru, uttama guru. These words are describing the adhikar, the qualification of a bhakta and measuring how much faith he has. Guru is guru. It is not uttama guru. You read the sandharbhas, there is no description as uttama guru. It says that one should try to take initiation from a devotee who has a lot of qualification. Uttama means a lot, right? It means topmost, means way up there. Uttama, uttama adhikar means qualification, laksana, he has a lot of it. He can really convince me and remove all my doubts and he really has his faith in the guru and the holy name and the process of nama sadhana. So he has the adhikar and he is also initiating, so, you don’t measure guru.

Once you are guru, you are uttama, you have all the qualification, convince and give everything. Guru is guru. Show me anywhere in sastras where it says kanistha guru, show me, I challenge anyone. Show me anywhere in sastra where it says madhyam guru. O my guru is a kanistha. I have to go to Radha Kunda to upgrade my ticket. I have to recharge my cell phone, my batteries are weak. Can you use some recharge on me. Hey babaji maharaja, can you do easy charge? Can you charge up my bhakti cell? Can I plug into my bhakti cell? Crazy! acaryam mam vijaniyan

Guru is guru. He is an akandha tattva, either you are a guru or not, that’s it, baas. O he is a badiya badiya guru! Accha! O whats a choti choti guru? Bada bada guru means, he has so many titles this that. So what is Aindra? Is Aindra GBC? No. Is he BBT? No. Is he temple president? No. Is he a sanyasi? No. He is just Aindra dasa. But he is guru. Visuddha bhakta. He is siddha, he is gone, he is there, he is in the lila. Everything significant, die in Vrndavana, die in ratri kaal, die in the middle of rasa lila, cooking for the deities, meditating, where else can he go? Meditating on your siddha deha as a gopi manjari, a palya dasi of Radharani, doing your palya dasi seva bhava of cooking, meditating on. Where else can he go. Probably, but Aindra having such a bhava for naam sankirtan, will be born in Vrndavana and join the Krsna Balaram mandir and head up the 24 hour kirtan party. Krsna Balaram akhanda kirtan mandali ki jai.

Because he is dedicated, he is not a salvationist, let me out of here. I want to go back home back to Godhead. That is a salvationist neophyte conception. O God save me Gaur bachao Gaur Bachao. But a madhyam, he thinks, I go, I don’t go. Na dhanam na janam na sundarim kavitam va jagadisha kamaye mama janma janmisnvare bhavatad bhaktir ahituki tvayi, birth, death, I don’t care. Koi nahi vicar.

If you have bhakti, you have Radha, if you have Radha, you have Krsna, if you have Radha and Krsna you have their prema seva in New York and Moscow and Delhi and Preet Vihar and Vikas Kunj.

We have lot of cool names of the hellish places. Helly as helly smelly Delhi but they have places like Preet Vihar and Vikas kunj. Vikas kunj, vow. Lets go to Vikas kunj, but if you go to Vikas kunj you die of air pollution, you die of water pollution, you get raped, you get terrorized, you get mugged, you get robbed but it has got a wonderful name, right? But they have other places rajori garden, if you go there you can’t find any gardens, you can’t find any flowers, you can’t find any trees and certainly you can’t find any king. Rajori means king or something? Raj, Rajori, must have something to do with king? Raj. The kings are long gone, a bunch of sudras live there and thugs and dacoits. So this is point.

This is a glorious day and we want to remember the life and teachings of the vaisnavas. Vaisnava caritra, their characteristics, their teachings. Only by remembering Aindra was I even able to come back to be here. It was too much for me. He wants everybody to do Harinaam so forget all the sentiments and you know mushy mushy stuff cause I am like one of those sentimentalist neophytes, you sahajiya as people say, so I am sorry, its hard to control your heart.

So I thought Aindra you would not like to see me mushy right now, I better chant Hare Krsna. So I said, Aindra come on, I am a little patla. You know Aindra is a little mota, he is strong in all departments. He is strong and body is strong and bhakti, and I am like, everywhere patla, kamjor.

I have been going to this ayurvedic doctor for twenty years, he is like my friend, my grandfather. He takes my wrist and every time he goes like this, kamjor, weakness. And I say baba you have been telling me this for twenty years. Every time you do my nadi pariksha you say kamjor which means weak, no strength. Jor se means strength, kamjor means strength less, I guess. Then he says in English, he knows a few words, weakness. I say ok that’s been described and then he gives me some medicines and it goes on. Endless lila, Kamjor lila. I have been embracing Aindra so many times, I say, hey don’t crush me, I am a little tiny creeper.

So we take strength by remembering pure devotees like nitya lila pravista Sripad Aindra prabhu. Remember these devotees, by remembering their qualities Padma Purana says, 1/6th of the virtue of that devotee comes into your heart. Now I just apply that materially because I think you can understand that better. Say you meditate on Ambani and all his wealth and you think of all his money, rupees, and by doing that all of a sudden your bank account increases by 1/6th of his bank account. Would you settle for that, would that be enough? Yes. Everyone is listening, would that be enough if you inherited that much in your bank account? Yes. Yes that’s a lot, that’s like fifty thousand million crores or something, uncountable crores or aarabs or what you call. Arabs have the aarabs, right? That’s a good name. The Arabs have the aarabs. Aarab means lots of crores or something and they are called Arabs. And anyways they got it all, isn’t it? Does anybody want to argue that the Arabs have the aarabs? You know because that they have the oil.

So that’s understandable, by meditating on a rich man, you know, like that. I mean that’s a karma, you get the karma phaal, so meditating on a pure devotee, meditating on Gurudev, meditating on Srila Prabhupada or your Gurudev or a great devotee like Aindra. Like they say in the west, he is like the ascended master, they have these terms in these books on meditations. The ascended masters, that means all these terms. So he is an ascended spiritual master, he is a nama guru, the sravana guru, the siksa guru, the nama guru for everyone - Me and all the members of ISKCON and other people also. We have to now become tight in our relationship with instructions. We won't be able to see his vapu, his divya vapu, his divine form is no longer visible to us in the external senses.

We have to see him in his teachings and see him in our memory and always remember this vaisnava.

He reasons ill who say that vaisnavas die
Because they are always living in sound.
And when they are living they spread the holy name around.

So their sound vibration is eternal. Sabda is eternal, nitya svara, nitya sabda. Sabda pramana, so his teachings, his holy name, his kirtana.

He is glorious, he made it, he is a winner, he won the Olympics. He won the Bhakti Olympics. He attained perfection in one life time, in a short few years, he was only 56 years old. And he joined in 1974. So how many years is that? 36 years.

Oh that’s interesting. That means 3 yugas. In astrology, every 12 years is considered a yuga for the human being, it's a major time period. So after finishing 36 years service of Radha-Syamasundara and the holy name, then he… it's very interesting.

Usually when the yuga shifts, when somebody has been doing something for 12 years, working, living, this, that the other thing, then there is sometimes major changes, he gets divorced, or gets a new job or moves to a new country or this or that.

It's often there. You will see everywhere. Even in sastras you will see 12-12-12, 12,000 years and Prsnigarbha and Sutapa, they mediated for 12,000 celestial years. This 12 is very big. Sankaracarya went to Joshi matha and did tapasya for 12 years in Joshi matha in one gufa.

So 36 years, he lived to be 56. At the age of 20, he joined Srila Prabhupada’s sankirtana movement and fully dedicated his life. So in 36 years, he attained perfection in Krsna prema, prema prayojana. Entered the lilas of Radha and Krsna, realized his siddha deha, left this world sprinkling everyone’s mind and heart with sudha nama and wonderful siddhanta.

A great gem in the crown of bhakta, the bhakta-mukuta, Srila Prabhupada’s bhakta-mukuta. Is that right? Mukuta means crown? The crown of devotees. Srila Prabhupada’s crown of 5000 jewels, diamonds and rubies and emeralds and pearls, hira, moti, neelam. Srila Prabhupada has this beautiful crown with all these jewel-like devotees there.

So Aindra is one of those great gems and jewels of Srila Prabhupada’s heart.

So this should give us great faith, nama-sradha. Guru-sradha, increase our guru bhakti, our faith in guru. Yes, we say everything is here, Krsna is here, His holy name is here, guru is here and the only thing missing is us. Are we here? Our contribution is saranagati, surrender. Atma-samarpanam, man-tan-dhan- guru samarpana, Krsna samarpana. Everything submitted and surrendered at the lotus feet of the Lord and His pure devotee, Gurudev.

Live for His happiness, live for His satisfaction. In every moment chant the holy name, every moment talk about Radha and Krsna and Gauranga, nama-rupa-guna-lila. These are the teachings of the great devotees, they teach and they live the teachings.

This is an amazing day. So I pray to Nitya-Lila Pravista Om Sri Srimad Aindra Prabhu, that his teachings, his example, his attachment for the holy dhama, his attachment for Radhe-Syama, his attachment for the holy name and serving his guru, I pray to all that wonderful attachment, all that asakti and bhava will come into my heart and I pray that it will all come into your hearts also and Aindra's prabhava and Aindra's krpa and Aindra's siksa, and Aindra's holy name will forever resound in your mind and heart.

Srila Aindra prabhu ki jai! So I have no more to say. Hare Krsna.

Krsna Born In The Womb of ISKCON

Krsna Born In The Womb of ISKCON
His Holiness Mahanidhi Swami (lecture given on ISKCON’s 30th anniversary New Delhi 2006)
On this most auspicious day 30 years ago in New York city on lower east side Srila Prabhupada incorporated the International Society for Krsna Consciousness, popularly known as ISKCON. Somehow or other by the causeless mercy of the Lord we have all contacted this movement. By c

ontacting this movement established by Srila Prabhupada we have come in direct contact with the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the sweet loving boy of Vrndavana – Govinda Deva, Krsna, Gopinatha, Syamasunder.
So we feel that we are very grateful for such fortune that we have received. So in times like these when we are celebrating the founding of Srila Prabhupada’s movement, we want to express our gratitude for how much mercy Srila Prabhupada has given us.
Practically the world, western world, if they have any understanding of Krsna at all, is due to ISKCON.
In England, years ago, sometimes there were so many difficulties. So some famous nationalist of England who very much loved his country, he said, “England with all thy faults, how I love you”. So naturally any country of this mundane world being limited by the material energy is full of faults.
This is the nature of the jiva in this world. We have defects – imperfect senses, commit mistakes, subject to illusion and the most problematic fault we have is cheating. Cheating, lying, not being honest. So obviously, such a governmental system or anything created by such a faulty person will be faulty. But this person said, “England with all thy faults, how I love you”. So he accepted, there may be some faults, but still he loved his country of England.
So we have seen in the growth of ISKCON, so many wonderful things have happened, so many glorious things. Those glorious and wonderful things happened by those devotees who stayed very closely and tightly to the lotus feet of Srila Prabhupada. And if something not nice happens then that is blamed on ISKCON or the members of ISKCON. Because it is caused by the members who don’t follow the teachings of Srila Prabhupada and are not actually following in his footsteps.
There is anukaran and anusaran. Anusaran means to follow in the footsteps. So some disciples, they like to imitate Prabhupada and by doing so they create calamity, and then other disciples, they don’t want to follow at all. So they also create calamity for their family.
Just like in a family, if one son..The family may be good – very pious, very religious, very respected in the society, in the village, in the community for their contribution to the village. May be economic or welfare activities that family is doing. But then one son may appear in that family and he may be like king Venu from Bhagavatam fourth canto. He may be a rogue, a dacoit, a gunda, and he can bring so much disgrace to that family. Although his family is not to be blamed, it is that individual person. Nevertheless, somehow or the other, he has to be rectified.
But sometimes we see that we are the members of this large family of ISKCON and over the last twenty years which we have seen or thirty years which our seniors have seen so much good is there and so much bad also, some bad. And on these days we feel that Srila Prabhupada’s movement because of the nature of this fighting is always being assailed. Assailed means attacked by so many forces. Prabhupada used to say, that the proof of your preaching, if your preaching is successful that means maya will react and give you a hard time.
Because preaching means your self purification, your preaching means your distribution of Krsna consciousness – is to benefit the conditioned souls. So when you try to purify yourself of the material existence which means becoming attached to Krsna. When you try to purify other souls, maya reacts, she reacts .Because she is a testing agent, she a representative of the Lord. So she will test you. Do you really want to become pure individually? Are you really desirous to love Krsna and return to Krsna and completely, selflessly, purely serve your Gurudev? So she will test you. And then she will test your preaching. Do you really want to preach? Are you really determined to please Lord Caitanya in this way and alleviate the sufferings of the masses? Or are you motivated for your own personal aggrandizement. Or actually in the name of preaching, you are really not trying to help others.
So in different ways maya will test. What is our sincerity? What is our real motive? Sometimes Prabhupada said, “People come to ISKCON with ulterior motives.” Ulterior means hidden. Secret motives, secret desires. They want fame. They want name. They want followers. They want money. And when they bring these contaminations in this movement then calamity results, either for them individually, because they don’t actually become liberated, they don’t actually attain Krsna consciousness and then they bring calamity to the movement.
But this movement of Krsna consciousness will go on. And ISKCON is a very special movement and we should appreciate it. Because it is easy to find fault. It is very easy to criticize. The right hand can criticize the left hand –
“Oh why do you have dirt on you?”
“Well, give me chance, we are a same family”
Even the left hand of body is criticizing right hand of body. This is the nature of kali yuga. There is so much - always fighting, always fault finding. But to appreciate someone or some entity or to be grateful, it is very difficult. It comes from a soft heart. Another problem we have is that we are very quick to judge – what is right, what is wrong! But then, we don’t really even follow.
Well, the biggest problems of the members of ISKCON are, they are not following the teachings of Srila Prabhupada. It is a fact that Srila Prabhupada gave us everything. We have examined ourselves how are we following what he gave us? Are we actually following the teachings? Do we actually chant? I don’t mean chant mindlessly or robotically like a robot.
We have this, what you call – automotronics. Animotronics or something, some name. So we should not be like some animotronic japa. Some kind of Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare (imitating the sound like a robot).
Like a robot. You know robot? Some Mac machine. But that’s the problem, you chant like that for twenty years, then how can you expect? Then you criticize, “O, Prabhupada only taught vaidi bhakti.” But it is a fact that if one strictly follows vaidi bhakti, even if you assume that argument, if one strictly follows vaidi bhakti, he will come to the platform of bhava, but it is difficult. But by the mercy of Guru and strict following, one can also come to the platform of bhava. This is a fact by vaidi but it is difficult. But Prabhupada didn’t only teach Vaidi but he also taught raganuga bhakti. He taught pure loving service of Krsna.
For those who actually follow the path of vaidi they can actually see all the secrets in Prabhupada’s books and how to actually unfold the lotus of their heart, actually how to develop their love for God. Prabhupada didn’t leave this mission incomplete. There is nothing incomplete about the mission except the members in the mission. The incompleteness is due to our lack of following. Perfection means perfect. Today. Yesterday. Tomorrow. So this ISKCON movement is actually perfectly arranged. Otherwise it would not be accepted by every jiva in every country all over the world. This is a transcendental movement and we must become transcendental members of this movement!
How does one become a transcendental member? He very seriously accepts those things that are favorable for Krsna consciousness and rejects those things that are unfavorable. We allow ourselves in the name of maturity or saying I am older devotee, to get involved with all sorts of maya!
“O, I am a senior devotee, I can do that. I can deviate to the right or to the left”. But until one gets liberated, there is no question of compromising. There are strict rules and regulations.
You see in the movement the things which you never saw thirty years ago during Prabhupada’s time. Everyone reading newspapers. Some of our temples, they get a newspaper for every department. Some departments get two or three newspapers a day. The biggest sale of the newspaper man when he comes to ISKCON, he gets fifty newspapers. What is this? And then that same person jumps up and down, “Prabhupada didn’t give us everything”.
When Prabhupada would give initiation in the beginning, Jayapataka Swami Maharaja told us, he would require the devotees to read the Bhagavad Gita ten times and he explained how, when he read he would put a little pencil mark inside what you call the N papers. When you open the book, it is called N papers. You put one, two, three, four, slash five. After you have read Gita five times then 6,7,8,9, 10 times.
Prabhupada said, “We should read Gita ten times” according to Jayapataka Swami Maharaja, senior devotee. And we should read 1st canto of Bhagavatam three times. Because we read everything but these things. And then we are qualified for first initiation, because by doing that it creates some faith. So we may ask ourselves, “Have I read Bhagavad Gita once?” We read so many books but we have no foundation.
So ISKCON actually if we examine it, its perfectly constructed. Prabhupada gave us everything from A to Z. He didn’t give us only beginners books – books of vaidi bhakti. He gave us the highest books - Caitanya Caritamrta, Bhakti Rasamrta Sindhu. And Krsna reciprocates – tesam satata yuktanam bhajatam priti purvakam dadami buddhi yogamtam yenamam upyanti te.
He says, “I give the intelligence to understand”. There is no secret; everything is in the Hare Krsna mantra. If you chant Hare Krsna purely you actually see your svarupa. You will see the svarupa of your spiritual master, you will see Krsna. You don’t need any thousand and one outside instructions, thousand and one books!
But who sits tightly and chants purely? Prabhupada stressed over and over again. But we stepped over all the beginning instructions in thinking, “Yes I am mature, I am advanced, I can chant on a clicker - some kind of a metal thing, robot japa or something. It’s a part of the robot japa. Robot heart and a little thing – chuck, chuck, chuck. No! Tulasi mala. And avoid offenses. We don’t even know. Remember what these offenses are? We become entangled in all these things.
Prabhupada taught pure bhakti, And there are many members of Krsna consciousness movement, there are many members and disciples of Srila Prabhupada and grand disciples who are attaining perfection. They are attaining self realization. And it is not just by, “O they are fortunate, they are special”. They are simply strictly adhering to the lotus feet of their spiritual master and the principles that Prabhupada gave in ISKCON. We should be proud of ISKCON.
The pure ISKCON is represented...Nowadays everyone says, “O this thing, especially in India, so much criticism. So there is no appreciation. Its like the boy grows up and the mother feeds him for his whole life. Then as soon as he gets big enough to drive a car, “O my mother, she is no good”. He starts cursing his mother, she this and that – the color of her hair and the way she walks and this and that. All kinds of petty criticism that the son may give to the mother. Where is the gratitude? Where is the appreciation? And this is the nature of maya.
Maya has two potencies, throwing potency and covering. Throws you into illusion and keeps you covered there. With what? With forgetfulness! We forget, O my mother was actually very good to me. Actually it all began with my mother. My whole famous history as a great politician began with my mother and father, lest I forget! How can I not appreciate them, the culture, the nourishment, the nurturing, the education, the maintenance, the protection they gave me?
But this is the nature of maya, when one gets into this aparadha maan, this offensive mentality. He immediately forgets, he forgets the sense of reality. Reality is something that goes through three phases of time – past, present and future. Reality is eternally existing. So we forget our past.
Actually now I am a very advanced devotee. I am following so many intimate teachings. And because we start to lose our gratitude, we become offensive. We forget, where did it all start? Where did my fantastic advancement start? Where did I begin as a big devotee? Well it actually I started when I got a book of Srila Prabhupada ten years ago, somewhere somehow I contacted ISKCON. And that’s when it all began. But we forget due to maya. And then ten years later we are cursing ISKCON, finding fault and so many things.
Prabhupada in the 10.1 Bhagavatam in one purport he said, “The Supreme Personality of Godhead Krsna has taken birth within womb of the ISKCON movement.” Now try to digest that, try to understand that. The Supreme Personality of Godhead usually takes birth in the womb of Yasoda or Devaki, Vasudev Krsna in Devaki and Yasodanandan in Yasoda. Duibhuja, the two armed form. So he is saying that Krsna, that svayam Bhagavan Krsna, that beautiful Lord, He is born, He took birth in ISKCON thirty years ago. Of course Krsna never gets older fifteen and a half, sixteen.
So although externally it looks like ISKCON is thirty years old but ISKCON is only a nava yauvanam. Nava yauvanam means eternally youthful. So this means that there is something really special about ISKCON. Very wonderful.
And nowadays we find so much criticism. And actually if you meet different acaryas, very senior disciples of Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur and disciples of their disciples, you could say, cousin brothers in one sense. And some of them will say, “O, how can you stay in ISKCON?” But then others, they have equal prestige or prominence, they will say, “never leave ISKCON”. Stay with your Gurudev, how can you leave your Gurudev? So there you have very exalted personalities praising and encouraging solidarity and remaining. We have very exalted personalities criticizing or finding some fault and encouraging departure. So how does the disciple balance everything?
It depends on the depth of his realization, about his gratitude, his appreciation. If one is transcendental, one of the qualities of a transcendental personalities is dharya. Dharya means patience. He tries to see the hand of the Lord in everything. And he especially sees how Krsna has picked me up out of illusion through the means of ISKCON. Most of us! Most of us have been picked up out of illusion, out of the cycle of birth and death by ISKCON. So that gratitude can never be forgotten. That debt can never be paid, because that is the first extension of Krsna’s kripa. Krsna’s mercy comes through all spiritual masters. Krsna’s kripa comes through pure spiritual movements. But most of us, our first contact with the mercy of Krsna came through Srila Prabhupada’s movement. So much we should appreciate. Forever! And that’s like your mother. Do you ever throw your mother away?
Hear this example, a prime minister of a country, he flies off for international business, may be war with another country. This is a situation, it just happened. And while he is there with his ministers and discussing what to do about this possibility of a war with a foreign nation. In the middle of all these meetings about to begin, he gets a phone call from a distant place, “O your mother died.” So then he has so much appreciation and love and gratitude for his mother. He tells everyone, “Stop, stop the meetings, stop the war, don’t invade or invade, but I have to go back home and take care of my mother’s funeral.” This just happened in a place we are sitting in.
So this shows you that international politics, country, fame, possibility of a war has nothing to do with the intensity of a relationship that the son has for his mother. Even in this age!
So this ISKCON is like a mother. We say there are seven mothers in society. One is the wife of the Guru, Guru patni. And the other is the bhoomi mata. And then the other is the brahmani, the wife of the brahmana. And then the datri, the nurse. So you analyze ISKCON from many aspects, ISKCON is also a mother. Bhoomi is our mother because she is holding us up, she is giving us foundation. So what is holding us up, the foundation, the very basis, the foundation of our spiritual life is ISKCON!
ISKCON is our bhoomi mata, she is supporting us from the very beginning. And the datri, nurse, she nourishes the baby by continually giving her milk if the original mother is dry. So ISKCON is always nourishing us with prasadam, with mahotsavas, festivals. ISKCON is our datri and the wife of the Guru, this is Prabhupada’s wife. This is his life, vidya vadu jivanam. We say vidya vadu, the wife of knowledge. So vadu. So this ISKCON is also the wife of knowledge, she is nourishing us with knowledge.
Mahaprabhu says,”Ceto darpana marjanam maha davagni nirvapana..” He says vidya vadu, vadu means wife. So in so many ways ISKCON is our mother. And how can we neglect our mother? In these days we want to count our blessings and worship ISKCON and worship Srila Prabhupada. And actually when ISKCON is attacked, we should take that as an attack on my devotion. Someone attacks ISKCON, we should say, “O, I haven’t become pure yet, I am not following enough”. Because if everyone in this movement was a pure devotee of the Lord then how could anyone criticize? If everyone in the movement was completely pure, if they criticize, simply all their noses will fall off in three days. Just like Gopal Capala, he criticized Haridas Thakur, “Hey what is this chanting out loud” and his nose fell off from leprosy.
So when someone criticizes, you say, “Yes, I am at fault. You are right, I am at fault. I am not pure. Thank you for reminding me. Let me become a pure representative of Srila Prabhupada. Let me become a pure representative of this movement”. You may criticize the movement but how can you criticize the individuals. But what happens is that people, they just lug everything to together, “O, ISKCON is all this!” This is not very good. This is not the proper mood.
“trnad api sunicena taror api sahisnuna amanina manadena kirtaniya sada harih” Mahaprabhu taught us that – why are you fault finding. Look within, see the problems within yourself. The person is saying ISKCON this and ISKCON that. Is he free? Is he pure? Is he a pure devotee? How can we find fault with others as long as we are still in the material world. Being in the material world means we are full of kama and krodha, lobha, moha and matsarya, especially moha. We are full of so much illusion, we can’t even see the tip of our nose. We can’t see straight and we are quick to pass judgment like Yamaraja, judging all the living entities.
We are very fortunate. So let us combine together to try to improving ISKCON. Means improving me! The problem with ISKCON is ME. Just like that famous president of America, he said, “Don’t try to ask what country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country”. Something like that…
When someone finds out problems with ISKCON, we should think the problem is with me, because I never really realized Prabhupada’s teachings. I didn’t even realize the first thing when he said, “Please chant without offence. Please chant purely and just see what awaits you. See what will happen.” I haven’t even done that yet. I have been chanting mindless inattentive japa for thirty years, twenty years, ten years, eight years. And I expect to snap my fingers and be in a nikunja lila. NOT SO EASY. But Prabhupada gave us the fast way. He always said, “I want to give you the fast way. The jetplane.
Some newspaper reporter said that Prabhupada is a jet age paribrajakacarya. Paribrajak acarya, he is wandering here and there, but by jet. Just like all the acaryas are now flying. Gaudiya mission, our mission, everyone is now flying. Jet age swamis. It was necessary to cover the whole world. So Prabhupada gave us a jet age fast process. On the days like this, we can examine. ISKCON is thirty years old. How many years have I been in this movement? One third of the movement? If I have been for ten years that means one third or twenty years two thirds, or thirty years, the whole time.
But when a fruit sits on the tree, it must become ripe unless it falls off the tree. If the mango is on the tree, it is green, ok. But if it stays on the tree properly oriented towards the sun and keeps his relationship with the tree then it becomes ripe mango. No doubt. It is a matter of ripening, maturing. It is a time factor.
So this ISKCON, Prabhupada said, “It is the branch of the tree of Lord Caitanya.” Lord Caitanya’s tree has many branches. There is not only one branch. There are many branches. And if you are on one of those branches, you are one of the limbs, one of the little twigs, and if you are a fruit hanging on one of those branches. Stay on the tree of Lord Caitanya and you will get the fruit. You will become ripe and sweet and fragrant and attractive and appealing and pure. It’s not that you have to go to another limb. When the fruit is hanging on the branch, it doesn’t say, “O, this branch is not good”. The branch is connected to the trunk. The trunk is connected to the roots. Its not that I have to go to another branch now! All branches will bear fruit depending on the strength of the tree. So we are on the branch of Lord Caitanya’s tree. The root of this tree is the desire of Lord Caitanya. The root of this tree is the soil of Vrndavana. The root of this tree is the lotus feet of Radha Govinda.
Prabhupada worshipped Radha Govinda and he took them out of his heart and took them all around the world so you worship Radha Govinda too. In New York, Kolkatta, then different names are there, but Radha Govinda, they are the ista
deva for the Gaudiya sampradaya. But how much are we really cultivating our love for Radha Govinda? So many things we are cultivating. So many weeds. Prabhupada didn’t want that. He wanted a pure garden free from all weeds, just bhakti lata everywhere.
We can jump up and down ISKCON and distribute 500 million books which I guess almost they have done. So many temples and so many things, its very nice. But we should strengthen ourselves individually to not be affected by criticism. In a way that you direct the criticism towards the movement you are in, it is like biting your own hand. Don’t bite the hand that feeds you.
Your mother is feeding you and you bite her fingers. Prabhupada is feeding us so nicely. We don’t read the books, we don’t follow the programs. Immediately we want to be in the highest platform of self realization because we are so lazy. We don’t want to do any bhakti at all, we want to just say, “O, this is nice”. We just do this advance type of devotional service. This is the problem with Kali Yuga, everyone is so lazy. “Can’t get up, O, I am sick, my stomach hurts, my back hurts, I can’t go to mangal arti.” Such weakness, Prabhupada, when he started he gave so much strength to the devotees and they were so strict. We should examine ourselves, I am weak.
They say a chain is only as strong as the weakest link. So you have a chain and you are locking up your suitcase on a train. Right? Some chain. But if one of those links is Indian steel or something, not very good, kind of weak, and one of those pieces of metal, you can bend it with your fingers and open it. Once you open it then your chain is broken. Someone steals your lakh of rupees and your suitcase. So every link has to be strong then the chain is strong.
So each of us is the link of the chain of ISKCON! If you want the chain of ISKCON to be strong and go around the whole world and tie up the whole world with prema bhakti then we have to be strong links in that chain. But if one link is weak then it opens up and people will escape. We escape from the loving embrace of Prabhupada’s movement and the living entities escape from the mercy, the expression of this movement throughout the world. So we must become a strong link in that chain. Prabhupada wants to garland the whole world with prema. He came to teach Krsna prema. Do we have it? Have we attained it? Have we even seen it? So when are we going to get it? Ninety nine years from now? Ten lifetimes?
We say the glory of India, the glory of India project. But this is such a wonderful movement. It is so easy to immediately say, “There are so many problems”. Ok. But we are the problem. They say, “If you are not part of the solution then you are part of the problem.” They have these phrases…
This is a pure spiritual movement established by a pure devotee of the Lord with pure goals and pure teachings and by purely following. Prabhupada said, “Purity is the force.” If we purely follow, we will quickly make advancement to the goal of pure love, pavitram bhavam. Who want to attain that pure abode of the spiritual world? We must become pure. ISKCON is pure. The movement is pure. Prabhupada’s teachings are pure. But the contamination of the movement is us! We are bringing all the problems. We bring all the problems and we just infect everybody else with them and infect the world with that.
We hear it so many times, some devotee goes up and does some stupid independent materialistic thing then it comes in the paper, ISKCON devotee does this thing and that thing, and then everyone gets a bad name. Everybody says,
“O you are in ISKCON right?”
“Well ya, I guess so” (saying dejectedly)
Everyone will get a little embarrassed, “Well, ya, I have heard about it”.
“You want to like change your cloth or somehow”
“No, what makes you think I am in ISKCON?”
“Oh I just read the paper about the devotee, this thing, that thing”
Those aren’t devotees, those aren’t members of ISKCON. Anyone does crime and dacoitary and gundaism is not ISKCON, is not a member of ISKCON. He is a Kali cela, the disciple of Kali.
This movement, Srila Prabhupada coined this phrase, he said, “The materialist are feeling the weight of this movement” So the newspapers are representing Ravana. The newspapers are representing Kamsa. So Kamsa and Ravana, they don’t like the weight of Rama. They don’t like the weight of Rama rajya or Krsna bhagavan. They want to destroy Krsna and destroy Rama. So when this movement is pushing forward, these newspapers are the weapons of Maya, they are the weapons of Ravana and of Kamsa. So then they say, “O we must stop this movement, we must create defamation, we must divide and conquer. Defamation. Disrespect. We must turn the people away from ISKCON.” Because people are flying into this ISKCON movement, all over the world, there so many cell groups, congregations and ISKCON forum. So Ravana is getting up tight.
Kamsa is getting up tight and nervous and anxious. “O, I am losing so many of my loyal subjects! So many of my loyal subjects are not serving lust, anger and greed anymore, they are going to serve the lotus feet of Govinda and becoming pure? I must stop them”.
So they find one devotee who hasn’t chanted a round in twenty years and he just goes off somewhere and does something, huge front page headline “ISKCON devotee does this and that”. This is a tactic of maya to stop this movement which is a proof of how much forward progress ISKCON is making. How much influence and change it is creating in the world. That is the proof as I mentioned early because maya is reacting.
And a little this thing, some little nobody can get on a front page of an international newspaper.
How?
Because he is connected with this movement – ISKCON! If you are a member of this thing, that thing, this samaj, that samaj, you will never get in newspaper. Never in a hundred years, you could do anything. If you are a member of some family, the Agarwal family, you will never get in newspaper. But if you have anything to do with ISKCON you will get in the front page of New York Times and it will be on the evening news, all around on satellite TV. Everything. ISKCON, ISKCON.
Question? Is ISKCON mafia or what? In all these big debates they have. It is all non sense because they are all threatened so they will say anything. Just like when a man is under duress or under difficulty he just blabs anything, blah blah blah…when he is frightened. So don’t be affected by the petty words of the public.
When sadhus or saintly persons, when they find fault, then we should take it seriously. Let me look at myself. The fault lies with me, not with you. I am at fault, let me correct myself. Let me be repentive and beg the Lord for His mercy to make this movement pure. So many times in last twenty years we could have walked out of this movement. So many god brothers, good friends went this way that way. It is lot easier to leave. When something gets difficult it is easier to leave.
Just like in a family, the husband and wife are fighting left, right and center, it is easier to hop in your car and leave, the hard thing to do is to compromise, to work it out, to stay together. Because this is the age of division, this is the age of separation, this is the age of fighting, this is the age of quarrel. So if you have examined any combination of people or institution you must find always an opportunity for division and quarrel and fighting and hypocrisy because that is what the age is made of. Kali is made of that. So members of one family are always getting divided against each other. Fighting gets one another.
So ISKCON is meant to harmonize the world, unify the world around principles of God consciousness, Krsna consciousness. The wonderful beautiful person, Krsna. So this is our mission - become pure devotees of the Lord and give our purity, give Krsna to others. It’s a wonderful movement, you may leave this movement but the movement won’t leave this world. You may leave this movement and stand on the outside and say, “They did this to me and they did that to me and they and they and they”. What about you? What did you ever do? Did you do anything good? So that is unfortunate because we should support this movement, we are a part of it. We stay inside and we purify it, become exemplary. Proper devotees, proper representatives of our grand father, our great grand father, our father, then our movement will become glorious. If we individually become glorious devotees, the movement will become glorious. If there is any infamy to the movement is due to us. So we feel so bad when our father gets dragged down.
But its interesting thing you will see, no matter how many articles.– we see articles about Prabhupada and ISKCON. Atleast to date we haven’t seen, we have never seen anything bad spoken about Prabhupada. Even if there is an article where they say so much bad about ISKCON followers and the movement, they say, “Anyway the swamiji, he was a good person. He was serious but after he left…”
Prabhupada, no matter who they are, communist newspapers, socialistic newspapers, who they are, somehow they have some respect and regard for Srila Prabhupada. It’s us who bring the infamy to the family of ISKCON, not our founder, not our Gurudev. So we should bring glory to this movement by our behavior. Our preaching is our behavior. There is no philosophy without behavior. If you are not behaving purely and nicely then you don’t know anything about philosophy.
Devotee should be a temple of humility. Each devotee in the movement should be a temple of humility, a temple of respect, a temple of compassion, a temple of love. Spiritual love and concern for others. We should be a walking temple. So people who come into us, come into our association will get these things. They will receive humility and compassion and love of God.
We mark our body, this is the temple. So many places, twelve places, to signify my body is so many temples right. Each place there is Visnu, Krsna, Damodar. It is a temple, temple of my arms, temple of my back, temple of my forehead. Our body is a temple. Prabhupada built temples for people to come into but he created devotees that should be temple also mandira asraya. We should be asraya mandiras, we should give shelter. This is the mission of ISKCON. Prabhupada wrote in the mission statement of ISKCON, it says, “To erect for society at large an institution or mission where everyone can come and develop love of God and live peacefully and cooperatively in divine atmosphere of harmony and sharing and cooperation.”
This is ISKCON. Not back biting and fighting. One brother stabbing the other brother, knocking up the other brother and cheating on the other brother or sister, this is not ISKCON.
Let us examine ourselves, become pure and serious. Then as we become glorious in our behavior and transcendental and spiritual in our activities and dealings, then ISKCON automatically becomes glorious and respected. That’s what Prabhupada wanted.
We only want to leave this movement one time. Everyone should leave this movement once when you go back to Godhead. At one time they asked Prabhupada, “Prabhupada is there ISKCON in the spiritual sky”. Prabhupada said, “He looked, Yes!”
So maybe there is, there is not, definitely Prabhupada is there and all the pure devotees are there. So we are going to leave the movement, leave it once, when you go back to Prabhupada, when you go back to the spiritual world and be broadminded.
Prabhupada wanted brahmanas, he didn’t want robots. Deep thinking individuals, broadminded sincere personalities. We have to study and understand every thing. Not merely judge something or merely speak up something crazy. Because we cant see everything. We don’t know how things are unfolding, how things are progressing. We are very limited by our structure and nature. But if we are a little patient as I mentioned, everything becomes adjusted properly.
Something that’s true lasts forever. Something that’s false soon falls apart. This movement is not false. It is true and it will last forever. Ten years, twenty years, thirty years, forty years, fifty years and now its the thirtieth. So may be we will be here for the fiftieth anniversary, sixtieth anniversary, it will go on, because the foundation of principles is based on purity. What is the force of an individual spiritual life? It’s purity. The more he becomes pure, the more he goes forward. What is the force of this movement? Purity is the force. Ok books are the basis, preaching is the essence, utility is the principle.
But those don’t mean anything without purity. You can pile up books to the svargaloka, but if there is no purity, nothing will happen with those books. No one will open them till they meet a pure devotee. They’ll just sit there.
So we have to become pure devotee so people say, “Wait a minute, who is this personality I just met! Extraordinary person, unusual, different from everyone else I ever met in this world. How has he become like that?”
And he says
“O it’s in this books. Read these books.”
“O I have these books at home”
So then by meeting that pure devotee then everything begins. So purity is the force of ISKCON. The more we become pure individually the more this movement will forcefully and purely go on till perfection to help the whole world which Prabhupada wanted. There are only three hundred temples in the world. They should be three thousand by now. We are very tiny, compared to Prabhupada’s vision, we should be thirty thousand temples. There should be five billion temples ultimately. There are five billion people on this planet, everyone must become a temple, a temple of prema bhakti. Krsna prema, this is what it is about. It’s not about position or fame or anything else. We throw those; we don’t want any of those things.
We are keeping focus, what am I here for? Am I here to be adored or worshipped? O you are big this, you are big that! You did this, you did that! That’s the material world. But we are here to become humble servants of the Lord, become His loving eternal associates in the sweet realm of Vrndavana, to live eternally with the pure devotees, with our gurus in a divine relationship of affection with the Lord as parent, as friend, as lover. This is the meaning of ISKCON, nothing less than that.
Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare.

"In attempting to openly present my personal inspirations as I have done, I intend not that the rea

der necessarily embrace the details of my particular bhava, given that each individual soul will seek and ultimately realize a unique angle of loving reciprocation with the Lord according to the individual’s natural affinity and personal capacity. Rather, the intent is to encourage one to deepen one’s own bhajana so as to gain an enhanced internal devotional experience of one’s own. It is not that divine revelation is beyond the scope of contemporary feasibility. The Holy Name of Krishna is as real today as ever. Ye yatha mam prapadyante tams tathaiva bhajamy aham. “As all surrender unto Me, I reward them accordingly.” One should prudently think, “If it can happen to insignificant Aindra Dasa – if that rascal can do it – anyone can do it! Then what the hell are we waiting for! Let’s go for it!”
If, out of fear of being ostracized, I were to ignore my heart’s calling to responsibly discuss, for others’ benefit, the subject matter expressed in this book, I would consider myself to be a faithless misanthropist, a godless nihilist. I am not unaware of the inevitability of my words raising a few eyebrows. Still, I have risked writing down these ideas simply with the hope that I may somehow serve to augment or perhaps even catalyze an intensified quest for the ultimate aim of Krishna conscious self-discovery among the non-envious. Faithful persons who have a glimmer of greed for the attainment of the realm of Vraja will value this attempt."

Srila Rupa Gosvami’s advice in Bhakti-rasamrita-sindhu: “If possible, one should physically reside in Vrindavana.” Since any devotional service performed in Vrindavana yields a thousand times the result, one year of such service would yield the result of the same service done elsewhere for a thousand years. Thus if the average lifespan were taken to be eighty years, then one year of para-upakara-based pure devotional service done in the dhama would be equivalent to more than twelve lifetimes of the same para-upakara devotional service done anywhere else in the world. That is the extraordinary power of this holiest land of Bhauma Vrindavana, as confirmed by the statements of the Gaudiya Acaryas, in particular our Srila Prabhupada. Practicing while physically residing in Vrindavana all varieties of favorable internal and external devotional service for the benefit of others is the best way to practically capture the essence of a vraja-vasi’s selfless service attitude. It is the best way to expedite one’s progress in the affair of realizing the radiant para-upakara nature of one’s own sthaii-bhava as an eternal resident of Vraja. It is the best way to expedite one’s progress in the business of accumulating the heaps and piles of krita-punya-punjah mercy-credits in one’s transcendental bank account, actually required for directly joining Krishna’s bhauma-lilas in the siddha-deha. It is the best way to expedite one’s progress in the matter of gaining the internal qualification required to actually preach from the platform of ultimate perfection. If for any reason one cannot take full advantage of this greatest spiritual facility manifest on Earth by the mercy of Lord Krishna and His purest internal devotees, then taking shelter of the Holy Name while endeavoring to assist Lord Caitanya’s Sankirtana Movement wherever one may be, one must endeavor to cultivate feelings of separation from Vrindavana, based on intensified desires to attain eternal residence in Vrindavana. Kripa kori’ koro tare vrindavana-vasi. Then one may also gradually augment the purest para-upakara nature of an unalloyed vraja-vasi by guru and Gauranga’s divine grace.
When lobha, or greed for the ultimate attainment of the moods of Vraja, prompts their performances, both sankirtana of the Holy Name and transcendental book distribution, done purely as yajna for the satisfaction of Lord Caitanya, no longer function as vaidhika duties. Rather, they ascend to the path of spontaneous loving service and become celebrated as potent constituents of raga-bhajana, bridging the apparent gap between external and internal affairs. At this juncture, it would not be superfluous to firmly reiterate that, strictly speaking, the sole objective of the bhagavata-marga is to augment raganuga-bhava.
In this age, sankirtana-yajna is the vital force of inspired antaranga-bhajana, and conversely, beatified antaranga-vraja-bhakti-bhajana is the essential dynamic behind superlatively empowered sankirtana.
My dear most loveworthy and merciful Radha-Shyamasundara! May the broad-minded, forward-thinking souls evermore respect these deliberations, which are replete with profound concerns for advancing a more progressive culture of antaranga-bhakti in the lives of Your seriously dedicated sankirtana devotees. Please let those essence-seeking, deeply introspective, softhearted individuals who patiently and sincerely read or hear these verbose utterances very soon attain the highest transcendental happiness (paramananda) in the spontaneous loving service of Your lotus feet according to their innermost heart’s aspirations.

KRSNA Book introduction

excerpts from Sripad Aindra Maharaj lecture Aindra Pr SB 10-33-26-27 -2002-01-12 CC Madhya 23.104
vṛndāvane kṛṣṇa-sevā, vaiṣṇava-ācāra
bhakti-smṛti-śāstra kari’ kariha pracāra
Word for word:
vṛndāvane — in Vṛndāvana; kṛṣṇa-sevā — the service of Lord Kṛṣṇa; vaiṣṇava-ācāra — behavior of Vaiṣṇavas; bhakti-smṛti-śāstra — the reference books of devotional service; kari’ — compiling; kariha — do; pracāra — preaching.
Translation:
“Establish devotional service to Lord Kṛṣṇa and Rādhārāṇī in Vṛndāvana. You should also compile bhakti scriptures and preach the bhakti cult from Vṛndāvana.”
Purport:

Sanātana Gosvāmī was enjoined (1) to broadcast the revealed scriptures on devotional service and establish the conclusions of devotional service, (2) to reestablish lost places of pilgrimage like Vṛndāvana and Rādhā-kuṇḍa, (3) to establish the Vṛndāvana method of temple worship and install Deities in temples (Śrī Sanātana Gosvāmī established the Madana-mohana temple, and Rūpa Gosvāmī established the Govindajī temple), and (4) to enunciate the behavior of a Vaiṣṇava (as Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmī did in the Hari-bhakti-vilāsa). In this way Sanātana Gosvāmī was empowered to establish the cult of Vaiṣṇavism. As stated by Śrīnivāsa Ācārya in his Ṣaḍ-gosvāmy-aṣṭaka (2):

nānā-śāstra-vicāraṇaika-nipuṇau sad-dharma-saṁsthāpakau
lokānāṁ hita-kāriṇau tri-bhuvane mānyau śaraṇyākarau
rādhā-kṛṣṇa-padāravinda-bhajanānandena mattālikau
vande rūpa-sanātanau raghu-yugau śrī-jīva-gopālakau

“I offer my respectful obeisances unto the six Gosvāmīs, namely Śrī Sanātana Gosvāmī, Śrī Rūpa Gosvāmī, Śrī Raghunātha Bhaṭṭa Gosvāmī, Śrī Raghunātha dāsa Gosvāmī, Śrī Jīva Gosvāmī and Śrī Gopāla Bhaṭṭa Gosvāmī, who are very expert in scrutinizingly studying all the revealed scriptures with the aim of establishing eternal religious principles for the benefit of all human beings. Thus they are honored all over the three worlds, and they are worth taking shelter of because they are absorbed in the mood of the gopīs and are engaged in the transcendental loving service of Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa.”

This Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement continues the tradition of the six Gosvāmīs, especially Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmī and Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī. Serious students of this Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement must understand their great responsibility to preach the cult of Vṛndāvana (devotional service to the Lord) all over the world. We now have a nice temple in Vṛndāvana, and serious students should take advantage of it. I am very hopeful that some of our students can take up this responsibility and render the best service to humanity by educating people in Kṛṣṇa consciousness.
KṚṢṆA, The Supreme Personality of Godhead Introduction The pastimes of the Lord are generally heard and relished by liberated souls. Those who are conditioned souls are interested in reading stories of the material activities of some common man. Although similar narrations describing the transcendental activities of the Lord are found in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam and other Purāṇas, the conditioned souls still prefer to study ordinary narrations. They are not so interested in studying the narrations of the pastimes of the Lord, Kṛṣṇa. And yet the descriptions of the pastimes of Lord Kṛṣṇa are so attractive that they are relishable for all classes of men. There are three classes of men in this world. One class consists of liberated souls, another consists of those who are trying to be liberated, and the third consists of materialistic men. Whether one is liberated or is trying to be liberated, or is even grossly materialistic, the pastimes of Lord Kṛṣṇa are worth studying.

Liberated souls have no interest in materialistic activities. The impersonalist theory that after liberation one becomes inactive and need not hear anything does not prove that a liberated person is actually inactive. A living soul cannot be inactive. He is active either in the conditioned state or in the liberated state. A diseased person, for example, is also active, but his activities are all painful. The same person, when freed from the diseased condition, is still active, but in the healthy condition the activities are full of pleasure. Similarly, the impersonalists only seek to get free from the diseased, conditioned activities, but they have no information of activities in the healthy condition. Those who are actually liberated and in full knowledge take to hearing the activities of Kṛṣṇa; such engagement is pure spiritual activity.

It is essential for persons who are actually liberated to hear about the pastimes of Kṛṣṇa. That is the supreme relishable subject matter for one in the liberated state. Also, if persons who are trying to be liberated hear such narrations as the Bhagavad-gītā and Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, then their path of liberation becomes very clear. The Bhagavad-gītā is the preliminary study of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. By studying the Gītā, one becomes fully conscious of the position of Lord Kṛṣṇa; and when he is situated at the lotus feet of Kṛṣṇa, he understands the narrations of Kṛṣṇa as described in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. Lord Caitanya has therefore advised His followers that their business is to propagate kṛṣṇa-kathā.

Kṛṣṇa-kathā means narrations about Lord Kṛṣṇa. There are two kṛṣṇa-kathās: narrations spoken by Kṛṣṇa and narrations spoken about Kṛṣṇa. The Bhagavad-gītā is the narration or the philosophy on the science of God, spoken by Kṛṣṇa Himself. Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam is the narration about the activities and transcendental pastimes of Kṛṣṇa. Both are kṛṣṇa-kathā. It is the order of Lord Caitanya that kṛṣṇa-kathā should be spread all over the world, because if the conditioned souls, suffering under the pangs of material existence, take to kṛṣṇa-kathā, then their path of liberation will be open and clear. The purpose of presenting this book is primarily to induce people to understand Kṛṣṇa or kṛṣṇa-kathā, because thereby they can become freed from material bondage.

This kṛṣṇa-kathā will also be very much appealing to the most materialistic persons because Kṛṣṇa’s pastimes with the gopīs (cowherd girls) are exactly like the loving affairs between young girls and boys within this material world. Actually, the sex feeling found in human society is not unnatural because this same sex feeling is there in the original Personality of Godhead. The pleasure potency is called Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī. The attraction of loving affairs on the basis of sex feeling is the original feature of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and we, the conditioned souls, being part and parcel of the Supreme, have such feelings also, but they are experienced within a perverted, minute condition. Therefore, when those who are after sex life in this material world hear about Kṛṣṇa’s pastimes with the gopīs, they will relish transcendental pleasure, although it appears to be materialistic. The advantage will be that they will gradually be elevated to the spiritual platform. In the Bhāgavatam it is stated that if one hears the pastimes of Lord Kṛṣṇa with the gopīs, from authorities with submission, then he will be promoted to the platform of transcendental loving service to the Lord, and the material disease of lust within his heart will be completely vanquished. In other words, such hearing will counteract material sex life.

This book, Kṛṣṇa, which is filled with kṛṣṇa-kathā, will thus appeal equally to the liberated souls and to persons who are trying to be liberated, as well as to the gross, conditioned materialist. According to the statement of Mahārāja Parīkṣit, who heard about Kṛṣṇa from Śukadeva Gosvāmī, kṛṣṇa-kathā is equally applicable to every human being, whatever condition of life he is in. Surely everyone will appreciate it to the highest magnitude. But Mahārāja Parīkṣit also warned that persons who are simply engaged in killing animals and in killing themselves may not be very much attracted to kṛṣṇa-kathā. In other words, ordinary persons who are following the regulative moral principles of scriptures, no matter in what condition they are found, will certainly be attracted, but not persons who are killing themselves. The exact word used in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam is paśu-ghna, which means one who is killing animals or killing himself. Persons who are not self-realized and who are not interested in spiritual realization are killing themselves; they are committing suicide. Because this human form of life is especially meant for self-realization, by neglecting this important part of his activities one simply wastes his time like the animals. So he is a paśu-ghna. The other meaning of the word refers to those who are actually killing animals. This means persons who are animal-eaters (even dog-eaters), for they are all engaged in killing animals in so many ways, such as hunting and opening slaughterhouses. Such persons cannot be interested in kṛṣṇa-kathā. Thus everyone, in any condition of life, should be interested in hearing about Kṛṣṇa and His activities because He is the Supreme Absolute Truth, the Personality of Godhead. He is all-pervading: inside He is living within everyone’s heart, and outside He is living as His universal form. And yet, as described in the Bhagavad-gītā, He appears as He is in the human society just to invite everyone to His transcendental abode, back home, back to Godhead. Everyone should be interested in knowing about Kṛṣṇa, and this book is presented with this purpose: that people may know about Kṛṣṇa and be perfectly benefited in this human form of life.
