Prabhupada has warned us not to go to or listen to professional Bhagavatam reciters. This also applies to devotees in Krishna Conscious. Because one who is not in the thought process of previous acharyas may definitely differ in his views and opinions and provide solutions in his own manner which I am not sure whether it is helpful for anyone who wants to understand and follow the parampara system of vedic education.
Also in a purport of one of the shlokas of Bhagavad Gita As It Is, Prabhupada mentions that one should not donate indiscriminately. (ISKCON always issues receipts).
How to recognize and stay away from the above types of people ?
Prabhupada says in one of his lectures:
Who is Guru ?
It is that who is a servant of God, it is that who follows the orders of his master.
You don't need a long definition about who is a Guru.
Besides this, in one of Prabhupada's interviews at Melbourne, Prabhupada tells us that one who wants to accept a Guru has to first find out whether the person is "fit" to be a Guru, (very important). "Knowledge of God" is second thing mentioned.

Hare Krsna Prabhuji,
PAMHO.
It is very easy to identify a professional reciter. One who charges for speaking about the glories of the lord in Srimad Bhagawatam is a professional reciter. In India, it is also a very good profession - there are so called gurus charging a crore or even more for the Bhagwat saptah that is so popular. Plus they keep on getting cows as donation, they open cowsheds and sell the milk. Lots of things are happening.
The danger of hearing from a professional reciter is - since the reciter is charging money, he has a self interest and he may speak to the galleries. In other words, he may not speak about unpalatable things (to the masses) mentioned in the SB, and only concentrate on stories related to baby Krishna. THen the message of SB gets diluted.
Guru is one who comes in parampara and speaks what the acharyas before him have spoken. Guru is one who delivers the message coming down the ages as it is, without any corruption or change.

Yes.
Different views, comments and opinions on Srimad Bhagavatam can make people confused or away from original, without possibility to understand the Absolute Truth as it was originally presented.
Anyway, as the holy name of Lord would purify even if its chanted incorrectly, similar to that, Srimad Bhagavatam will purify even if its imperfectly presented.
Everybody are qualified only for purification, but only rare ones are qualified to receive transcendental knowledge.
Lets come back to this topic :

SB 11.3.17 — King Nimi said: O great sage, please explain how even a foolish materialist can easily cross over the illusory energy of the Supreme Lord, which is always insurmountable for those who are not self-controlled.
.
All glories to Sri Prabuddha who explained all process very clearly in a few verses. !!
